I shall be (whether you like it or not ) be providing a running level by level commentary for this tonight, so you can all see what I'm doing wrong.

Re: Ladbrokes Poker Cruise III, 2008
Ok 1676 entrants, 5 places through to tomorrow's daily final, 1000 starting chips, 6 minutes blinds, and I turn up 5 minutes late.

Re: Ladbrokes Poker Cruise III, 2008
No action in level 1, I was too late.
Level 2 starts, 15/30 blinds, I take down a small pot. Pick up KK in BB, raise, 2 callers, A comes on flop, but a 2/3 pot size bet out of position gives me the chips.
End of level 2, My stack = 1457.50
New level 3, blinds 25/50
Hit a runner-runner flush to double-up after entering the pot way behind, not liking these 6 minute levels though, a bit crapshooty to say the least. Then KO the guy I bad beat with 36s against A10, which I don't think impressed him much. Then moved tables for the first time.
End of level 3, My stack = 4015, Average stack =1563 , Position = 61/1072

Re: Ladbrokes Poker Cruise III, 2008
New level 4, blinds 50/100
Nothing happening until I pick up AA in the cut-off, re-raise a limper, re-raised by shortstack, large stack calls, I re-raise, large stack calls again - he has K9 , the short stack has KK, my cards hold up and I'm up to 9020
End of level 4, My stack = 9020, Average stack = 1957, Position = 11/862
New level 5, blinds 75/150
Nothing happens in level 5 except for the BB coming round
End of level 5, My stack = 8870, Average stack = 2179, Position = 17/760
New level 6, blinds 100/200
Pick up AA again in the same seat, 3 limpers, raise it up to 1400, end up with a short-stack in pre-flop and an idiot post flop to move close to 20k in chips
End of level 6, My stack = 19645, Average stack = 2582, Position = 3/649

Re: Ladbrokes Poker Cruise III, 2008
Level 7, 150/300 blinds
Disappointingly, level 7 drifts by with no pocket Aces, the poker gods clearly aren't on my side tonight
End of level 7, My stack = 19195, Average stack = unsure, Position = unsure
Level 8, 200/400 blinds
Get KK in EP but, amazingly for this table, my raise gets no action. Small raise with AQo UTG, big-re-raise by one of the bigger stacks, so I fold, turns out he had AKo.
End of level 8, My stack = 19495, Average stack = unsure, Position = unsure
Fuck this, these 6 minute blinds are going way too fast for me to do these updates, but I'll keep you updated from time to time. I type one hand summary, and a level is gone lol.

Re: Ladbrokes Poker Cruise III, 2008
This has to rate amongst the loosest freeroll I've ever played in, so it's simply a case of waiting for a hlaf decent hand, rather than the usual bullying tactics I'd employ.
Stack is 22k, 16/143, average stack 11.7k, blinds 500/1k, and just coming my way.

Re: Ladbrokes Poker Cruise III, 2008
Screwed up a bit there to lose half my stack - allowed the general looseness of the tourney to change my initial suspicions about a hand. Down to 10k at the break, only 1 hour gone, seems like I've been playing for hours. 55/95, plenty to play for, but I should be top 15.

Re: Ladbrokes Poker Cruise III, 2008
Ended up 81st, the blinds were getting to the crippling stage, so moved with 39s before I was blinded away. Up against K10 so wasn't too unhappy, but that stood up.
