Pocket Aces

Just looking back at some of my hand history and trying to analyse things. After the flop here I check/raised all in and the guy folded. Looking back on it I think I should've just flat called his raise to get more chips out of it, two hearts were out but I had the Ace of hearts. Did I do the right thing by killing it there and then or should I have let more cards out?

Re: Pocket Aces

Having a shot at the PPL on Paradise, no doubt get fed up with that and bomb out, after that I'll see what's about on Virgin. If I find anything decent I'll post up on the "if your playing thread"

Re: Pocket Aces

Its not a bad way to play them in a tournament with low stacks yen. I mean I would have played them straight up and just bet the flop probably (If he has a Q or flush draw, or perhaps KJ he is going to go with you) - giving a bit more respect to the times I cbet after missing the flop but going for a checkraise here isnt too bad as he might try to bluff and it really commits him with a Q. I wouldnt like it in a cash game tho yen with very deep stacks, particularly if you cant fold aces postflop (Im not saying you cant personally yen, im just saying in general if someone cant then giving a free card here is horrible). A good player will just check straight behind you with a gutshot or lower pp and youd kick yourself to be stacked on an improbable - but you gave it for free - turn card. As it is here in this tournament situation its not bad at all although slightly dangerous.
