Are We Second Rate At Sport?

And who's saying we are? Nicky Campbell and his audience of fat fucks, old gits and girly poofs, who last took part in a race when their mate made a late dash for the last pickled egg at the Golden Grill.

My ma does it as well, all through the tennis, golf, football, rugby, olympics etc etc, moaning about the state of Scottish sport between mouthfulls of a six pack of pork pies.

I can't stand it so I cant.

Well if you're talking about Scottish sport, you have to answer yes to this surely?

Not so long ago, Scotland had decent football and rugby union teams. Both are pretty much a laughing stock now. The only Scottish involvement on the recent British Lions test series, was a substitute appearance for the last few minutes of the last game, when all was already lost.

At least those Scottish women won a curling gold at the Winter Olympics though :loon

Oh aye, don't get me wrong zonker, I agree too.

It's the mob that seem to think we've got a god given right to compete at the highest level in most sports that get right on me tits.

Well you need to invest and so on. Scotland has a small population compared to some other countries, so you can't expect to win everything.

The people who annoy me are those who claim Scotland are better than England at everything (especially football) and won't be told otherwise England may not be the greatest, but at the most important team sports (football, cricket, and rugby union) England are pretty decent. Always qualify for major championships at football, ususally reaching the last 8 or so, 2nd best cricket team in the world currently and also the current Rugby World Cup holders.

It's amazing when you look back as little as 15 years ago and you see so many good Scottish footballers playing in the English league. Go back a little bit further, and there are loads of great Scottish players. Where did they all go?

A lot of people blame the so-called "Playstation generation" for not playing sport as much as they used to. This has an effect, but it's the same for all other countries too

Oh, were a Scottish board now are we Beanie?

Suppose we may aswell be as we have so many sweatys amongst us but i took the original title as referring to Brits in general.

Now he's mentioned it i think English sport has never had it so good, there seems to have been a big upsurge in English glory these last few yrs right across the board in most sports.
The only thing i can put it down to is Lottery money as the investment down here seems immense nowadays in most areas of sport as buildings from tiddlywinks to Greco-Roman wrestling are emerging all the time.
There aint nowt nowadays we aint good at.
