The Greatest City On Earth

So, we all know that London's the greatest city in the world to live in, but now I need to look at it from the tourist's point of view.

I've got a friend visiting from Norway this weekend, and I'm going to have to be a tourist for a few days.

So, to those of you that have visited London as an outsider, where are the places you most enjoyed going?

I mean I can always go for the obvious tourist attractions, but most places I go I find these overrated. So what one's should we avoid, and which ones to go to?

I fuckin hate the entire experience every time I have the misfortune to have to go. I'm not being rascist when I say that you should be able to find someone who speaks English in England's capital city.

London is what hell is like.

Avoid the shit hole altogether and fly your mate to Edinburgh.

Like I said, I did want an opinion on what it's like to visit so that's fair enough.

I've always said though, 99% of people who have lived in London would hate to live elsewhere, and 99% that haven't lived there would hate living there. I don't think you could say the same about other cities to the same extent.

For me, the complete mix of nationalities/cultures is what makes London so great. People who say that immigration doesn't work should try living in London, because, IMO, it's proof that it does.

I think you're probably right Dave. I can't think of many other cities that are so bad that 99% of outsiders would say that they'd never want to live there.

Beirut maybe.

Woman hurt in 'letter bomb' blast

The area around Victoria Street was initially cordoned off

A woman has received minor injuries in a "small" explosion at an office building in central London. Scotland Yard said a letter bomb was found in a post room of the Capita building in Victoria Street, Victoria.

Witness appeal in ice rink murder

Police do not know if James was the intended target

Detectives have appealed to hundreds of young people who were at a crowded ice rink when a teenager was shot dead to get in contact with them. James Andre Smartt-Ford, 16, was shot twice on Saturday night at Streatham Ice Arena in south-west London.

Yes ODM, shootings only happen in London. I'm pretty sure Nottingham has by far the highest rate of gun crime in this country.

Re: The Greatest City On Earth

I get the feeling this thread is never going to go back to the original topic.

All I will say is that it's funny how 6 million people didn't decide to live in Leeds, say.
