Re: Literary a disaster awaiting?
Sorry for the late reply Swoops , i was waiting for another workmate to finish the book.
Right , four folk have read it ( i printed it off at work ) Feedback , good , decent read . Would they purchase a book by the author , three said possibly and one said he would probably get it from the library , hes a tight cnut.It was compared to the sort of stuff that Matt Hilton / Lee Child write. Not very good at writing a review , far better reading books , so not the best feedback for you. No negative points were mentioned by anyone , dropped it off at my mothers before , she loves a decent thriller so i shall give you her thoughts , she should have i read by Thursday , she manages around four books a week ... |

Re: Literary a disaster awaiting?
Cheers win
Question to you & ODM would be, the IRA bit that we thought might be dodgy, as in its quite clear who the old boy sitting in the bar is supposed to be based on....should I still be thinking of changing that or does it work? |

Re: Literary a disaster awaiting?
I finished it the other night and the best compliment I can pay it (and Swoops) is that it was no different to reading any book that I've actually paid money for- in fact it was
a damned sight better than many I've paid for but what i mean is that once I got into it, i completely forgot that I was supposed to be reading a mate's book and just enjoyed the story. Very well written. Good, believable characters and a cracking plot with some very good personal subplots for each of the main characters. Best of all, the end didn't disappoint which is a major, major bugbear of mine when I've invested time in a book only to find it just tapers out at the end instead of resolving anything or making me think. Brilliant. |

Re: Literary a disaster awaiting?
Without giving the plot away to anyone who may read it in the future, it's not really judgemental or critical of them is it - and it is a work of fiction . I don't see a problem with it
