Anybody else having these noisy bastards blowing trumpets and shouting out of an untaxed wagon on Saturday and Sunday mornings waking you up for your scrap.
I've been wondering if it's something they've just been doing round our way or whether it's a national thing again?

We had a old bloke with a cart , he used to shout " Giddy Min " ... f**k knows what it meant..

I've seen more round by me in the last couple of years certainly. Also the night before the council do one of their 'large items' collections......fcuk me its mayhem

We just have Gippos who come and chap the door and ask if they can come back with the van for your whatever, If they went waking folk up round my way though they'd get a right kicking..

Nothing round these parts and I've not seen a rag n bone man for the best part 30 odd yrs, thinking about it they were probably the first to start recycling stuff before 'green' became fashionable.
No matter what you gave them you got a balloon in exchange , see! we were easily pleased in those days.

They also used to sharpen knives if i remember rightly, I had a m8 who's dad used to own a tatters yard and one of the horses called 'Molly' was psychotic, for a laugh they thought it was funny to send in anybody they didn't like into its stables with a bucket of food, they must have liked me as i never copped for it but i do remember one lad screaming as Molly clamped her teeth onto his head and started swinging him round. I suppose it is funny looking back at it but its not when your a 9 yr old kid watching it.
