Dexter

Anyone else into this?

I've never been a huge TV series fan, especially USA shows - comedies like Cheers and Married With Children yes but have never been able to get into 24 or similar stuff.

Downloaded Series One of Dexter a while back (missed it when it was on telly) and thought it was brilliant, Series Two is currently on in America and up to episode 10 which was on last night - awesome....probably the best show I've seen ever.

Michael C Hall's acting is fantastic, deserves an Emmy or whatever they get over there.

Ingenious writing in that they make the viewer root for a serial killer, desperately hoping he doesn't get caught, simply because he only kills those who deserve to die (although cutting them up into little pieces shows how fucked up he really is). Also the back storyline could easily have become farcically far-fetched like Lost but the weekly revelations fit together nicely.

Awesome show - if you haven't seen it, make sure you do

Re: Dexter

Never seen seen. When and where is it on?

On the subject of downloading; can someone tell me how to go about downlaoding tv shows, films etc? I can download music no problem but have never tried films. Be detailed and specific please as I'm a bit pc thick. Thanks in advance. In fact I've probably asked the question in the wrong place? Feel free to shift if necessary.

Re: Dexter

Dexter was on UK tv earlier this year I think but the new series is on in the USA now (two episodes to go)

Easiest way to downoad shows/films is to get yourself a Rapidshare account (£6 a month or something) then download from sites like these...

TV-Series | RapidShare Links: Dexter

...once all parts are downloaded use Winrar to extract the 1st rar file and they'll extract as one (usually avi) file to watch on your pc.

Re: Dexter

Alternatively, get yourself a bittorrent client, I use µTorrent, though there are others.

Then search for what you want on a torrent site, such as isoHunt · mininova · myBittorrent · The Pirate Bay · Suprnova.org – The Universal Bittorrent Source ·

The downloads can be pretty speedy, as long as there are a decent amount of Seeders!

Re: Dexter

Definitely one of the best US imports since "Prison Break" got very very stupid in the third series.

The books are well worth reading as well - written by Jeff Lindsay. The second one "darkly dreaming Dexter" is probably the best of the three to date. Fairly short and tightly plotted in comparison to lots of very bloated crime novels these days.

Re: Dexter

Just started watching this funnily enough as i downloaded the whole series earlier on this week, watched episode one and two last night and it is different to say the least.

I wasent overly impressed like i was with Heroes but it has lots of potential to get up there along side it as the subject matter has loads of possibilities.

All was going well in episode one untill somebody broke into his apartment and left that dolls head stuck on the fridge door and body inside, how he didnt bat an eyelid knowing a serial killer had broke in is a bit far fetched as i would have been shitting myself.

Re: Dexter

The whole point about the character is that he doesn’t have any “normal” emotions like love, hate or fear. The only thing that interests him is in killing killers in a sort of code laid down by his foster father.

There is a scene in one of the books where he is tied up about to be cut up by a particularly nasty maniac but all he wants to do is talk about technique. Far fetched possibly.

The one thing I will say about the books is that they are funnier than the TV show but otherwise the adaptation is spot on.

Re: Dexter

One of my mates raved about it when it was on FX a while ago. I downloaded series 1 of it but couldn't really get into it. Watched about the first 4 episodes and didn't watch anymore.

Might give it another go if I still have it somewhere on the PC.

Re: Dexter

well if it helps Crowie i was feeling the same way as every episode was basically the same up untill episode 5 when things started to take shape and Dexter is starting to leave himself open to getting nabbed and now i find myself looking forward to watching episode 6 which never happened with the rest so things could be bucking up.

Re: Dexter

yeah watched season 1 and 2 (all in 1 session each pretty much). thought 1 was good, 2 was a lot better.

sometimes i would think, yeah i would give deb one, then i would quickly come to my senses.

wouldn't mess with that doakes guy either - man he would tear my fucking scrawny throat out with his finger.

i look forward to season 3..

apparently some dude wrote some books, and these are "based" on `em.. [edit: just scrolled up and someone has already posted this.. don't I feel inadequate!]

Re: Dexter

Just watched season two and its brilliant far better than one , every episode seems to have you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next as it leaves you with a few cliff hangers in between episodes.

Like Alex look forward to season 3 if its in the making, don't know how they will make one mind after that crocodile ate Dexter.
