Been considering a Wii for a while now. What do the good people here think of them?
Oh, for anyone whose kids are naging for one, they are available from amazon.de (the German amazon) for 270 Euro - so thats under £200.
The spec machine you get is exactly the same as the UK version, the only difference is that you will need a Euro adaptor to plug it in. The games and the instructions are all in English.

I might go ahead and treat myself to one. What do 'we' think of them?
It all depends on what you want it for, AFU.
It's great for kids and women but if you're hoping for serious 2nd-gen gaming experience, forget it - you'll be very disappointed. Unless you're in to bouncing Mario around for hours on end.
The 360 is awesome, the likes of Gears of War, Bioshock, Call Of Duty 4, Halo 3, PGR, Crackdown, Dead Rising etc just have to be played.
Funnily enough I've just ordered a Wii from amazon.de last week for the kids for Xmas, they'll probably love it (although maybe not my 5yo lad who's obsessed with shooting games and zombie killing ).
The top scores from Metacritic shows the lack of quality games available for the Wii as compared to the 360...
your all getting me acited here. Sood my other thread on pc or 360 im for a 360. Not only will it be great but i can get a chance to kick kikos ass at iss aye im for a xbox 360. seen whats that zombie game you mentioned? is that online too? Im away for a read up
Wii's fine and the kids will love it but i've found myself going back on the ps2 as i like the feel of a joypad in my hand.
In fact i was thinking of selling my Wii until i spotted Resident evil 5 is being released for it at the end of the month, months before the release on any other console.
Resident evil 4 has to be the best game i've ever played and i can't wait to get my teeth into the next episode.
Wouldent mind a ps3 myself pistol but the games are expensive and with it being blu-ray it'll be a long time before even copied games are cheap.
Suppose if u could get them onto the hardisk it wouldent be so bad but with the size of blu-ray disks you wouldent even be able to get many of those on.
Me thinks it will be a couple of yrs yet before i consider buying one.
hi, i have all three consoles don't ask me why cos i dont av time to play any off em, but the wii is great for 2 or more pro evo is shit on playstation 3 but fifa is good on 360 and so is halo and call of duty is good on both plus mario sonic olympics and guitar hero are out over next few weeks so tht should be pretty good, and all can be chipped!!!!
I've heard some good reviews about Guitar Hero but don't see how it can be fun, maybe i need to see it in action first as i just don't get it.
The new mario game called 'Galaxy' or something is supposed to be superb, wouldent mind a bash at that as i used to love supermario world, spent nearly every waking hr on it for months tell the truth as it was so addictive.
My Wii arrived from Germany this afternoon, will try it out tomorrow when the kids are at school.
What extras should I be looking to get? An extra remote and nunchuck I guess, what about the classic controller? Is that for all games or mainly just gamecube games?
I cannot believe the Wii's are still going for ridiculous price.
My mate got his mum to sell his in the town. She came back with £60 for him after selling it to Cash Converters with 5 games and 2 controllers
Seen - i imagine you get a nunchuck with the console? One is really all you need to be honest as there arent many 2 player games that make use of you needing 2 nunchucks bar the boxing game on Wii Sports which is good to begin with but the excitement rubs off quite quickly.
Classic controller i didnt bother with so am unsure.
Games you should be looking to get for sure are Zelda and the new Mario Game about to come out.
Classic controller is for the retro nintendo 64 games u can download via the wii shop so don't bother as its a waste of money, you will probbaly need another remote controller mind so buy the 'wii play game' as it comes with a free controller, game aint much cop mind but its the same price as buying the controller on its own unless u can get one cheaper off ebay.
Played Resident Evil umbrella chronicles today and what a load of bollox it is, nothing like the usual RE games but just a light gun type game where u shoot anything you seem to be floating past, would have been mighty peeved if i had forked out hard earned cash for it.
Yeah, set the Wii up today when the kids were at school. Me and Mrs Seen had a game of bowling on Wii Sports, quite good fun and I can imagine the kids loving it, but I can't see myself playing it on my own. Ever. That would be pretty sad
The boxing was okay too but clearly there's no urge to play on your own, and with the more serious games clearly a fair way behind those on the 360 in terms of graphics and gamplay, this will be for the kids only. As I thought.
Great innovation from Nintendo (as usual) but I'll be sticking to my 360. I'll be glad to get it back as it's in the kids room at the moment, I can't get them off it
It's got the new D2C chip in so will see about getting a D2Ckey fitted....tricky to fit but they play the new Mario Galaxy.
