Kiko's Cowboys 5 a side New Season

Going to keep this thread here so all you raging Kiko Cowboy fans can have all the latest on the team.

First game of the new season tonight against Teachers Pets. They finished near the bottom last season but they were the best side we played IMO.

Will post up the league later tonight.

The team is meant to be.

Big Andy (Goalie)
Downie(Defensive style player who sits back. Goes on some mazys sometimes)
Tuna (Attacking left footed player who gets forward at every chance)
Dougie (Another left sided player)
Shane (My brother, and a lazier sod than me he is)
Colin (Attacking right sided player)
Kiko (Both footed attacker)

Starting team is usually along the lines of...

--------Kiko

Similar formation to that we play. Struggling for a keeper the last couple of weeks so me and Colin have taking a half each.

Team news for tonight. Shane is working so is unavailable and Big Andys house got broken into so he wont be making it.

Drafted in for goals is Gercken. Problem here is he doesnt have any contact lenses so can't see long shot coming in. Also the dark doesnt help him either but we have our hands tied for goalie and he is our best choice.

Craig, my assistant manager at work, comes in in place of Shane. Defensive player but not bad going forward either.

Kicks off in an hours time. Will be back with an updated league and will get some team pics up for you hopefully. Will also have the first games result with goalscorers and man of the match.

aye i like them all already Kiko. I like the way youve put yourself upfront. Get us some good uns of you doing some great goal clebrations Kiko. I would also put Shane and Andy on extra training as they're heart doesnt seem to be in it. You not call in some old pals from School Kiko that were good and add some flare to the team and make the players play for places.

Maybe put Shane upfront next week and give him his chance to shine and you could be the ft goalie? I can see Big Andy leaving soon with depression and you'll be in goal anyhow kiko. Im getting nervy myself for tonight

Im the flair, skillful attacker Komp. I have a lot of energy and am running all over the pitch. Not one of these twat strikers that think they are so great all they have to do is score. I will be back defending as much as im attacking.

Not sure about Shane. Him and Dougie seemed to be scared last week of the team we were playing as they were bigger boys and put themselves about.

Tuna is the same age as them (18), he is a little terror that gets stuck in. Squaring up to a guy 3 times his size last week. Even had the cheek to say to the guy "what the hell are you going to do"

Gotta go brush my teeth and get ready.

Aye it should affect the defence with them having no confidence in Gerkin. I think Kiko will lose faith halfway through and wont be able trac back as he was and playing as a one man team. My money is on Teachers Pet too Kop. 9-6

Teachers Pets 6-10 Kiko's Cowboys

In the end it was quite comfortable for us but we have a habit of making life difficult for ourselves and once again we did.

I was running late so it was me and Dougie starting off on the sidelines. Our passing left a lot to be desired and before we knew it we were trailing 1-0.

We kept making mistake after mistake with everyone on the field trying too hard to attack leaving us exposed at the back.

We ended up going 3-0 down due to some sloppy defending so i felt it was only right for the gaffer (me) to make an entrance. Taking off was Craig.

Without even having a touch we were 4-0 down with a sloppy defensive error by Dougie.

Everyone's heads were down but i knew fine well we had the beating of this side. Gercken had the ball, rolled it out to Colin who did a quick 1-2 with Tuna before releasing me for us to pull one back.

It really was as simple as that. We play football and we'd wipe this team off the park.

Tuna then got the ball and hit a cracker from just in their half which whistled past the keeper and into the top of the corner to the delight of my team.

Half time approaching and then i have to hold my hands up, they scored a well worked goal with their player slotting it home just on the whistle to go into the second half with a 5-2 lead.

Half time team talked i had to rally the cowboys round. One played that was hurting us i put Downie on to man mark him knowing that Tuna, Colin and Myself had the ability to damage this side.

Second half though was a nightmare start with Teachers Pets scoring directly almost from the centre to go 6-2 down. Im raging here as we should never be conceding a goal from here. Then i hear Gercken saying he couldnt see the ball

6-2 down and now with it all to do and we needed a quick goal. Dougie came on and after some good battling got hold of it and cooly slotted it home to bring the defecit back to 3 goals.

From the kick off i stole possession back and got a another quick goal and now we were really starting to believe.

With the ball we were just starting to pass it about and we were taking the team apart. Goals starting flying in with Tuna getting another, Colin grabbing 2, Craig getting one and then myself to take us crusing into a 9-6 lead.

Injury problems hit myself once again with my ankle going again. I did my ligaments in last year and its not been the same. My own fault really as i shouldve and couldve simply passed it back but i did a little trick, skinned the guy and then he came in with a late challenge for me to go over it

I ended up going off with about 5 mins left. Told them just to slow the game down which they did and pass it around. Just before the final whistle a nicely little through ball allowed Colin to get his hat trick finishing it with a post and in.

So in the end it was comfortable, but we had to dig deep and make a right go of it which we did so i am happy with our second half performance. Their keeper got man of the match which i think was thoroughly deserved as he made a lot of great saves to prevent us from scoring.

booooooo we were all Teacher Pets fans now Kiko. Who do they play next week? Will you be able to get a report on them. Kiko's Cowboys are so last year. I aint supporting them till you give your wee brother a game from the start.

Shane will be starting next week - im away on holiday so won't be playing.

You don't want to follow Teachers Pets. They are all a bunch of older ex junior/amateur players. The boring lot.

We are the young pretenders to the throne. We probably have the youngest side there. Out of the proper starting 7, four are 18, two are 20 and we have one, Downie, who is about 28.

We are all physically smaller etc too so most of the sides think they have it easy when they get us. They try to out muscle us etc but the football brain will always prevail

nah Kiko we like the underdog. Kiko's Cowboys are my 3rd fav team after Teachers Pet and Bruce's Bandits then Kiko Cowboys

See youve got a easy week next week Kiko. Maybe time to get that wee brother of yours upfront. I reckon youll be hitting double figures. Should set you up nicely for a possible 6 pointer v Bruce's Bandits. Nah i dont like Bruce's Bandits as that is a totally gay name and i cant belive no-one challenged Bruce over the team name. Must be a one man team. I'd hit Bruce hard in the first minute Kiko and hopefully put him out of action.

Oh and be good to get a wee cam film shot of you getting a goal Kiko. we are that sad. Its as close as i get to playing sport. Actually i might start playing on a thursday night again as ive been in contact with 2 pals lately that i used to play with. I play in goal and im pretty good if you dont mind me saying so so i should get a game. I'll get my sister to get some footage of me.

Next weeks opponents are an unknown. They just joined the league and havent played a game yet.

If a team doesn't show up then they automatically get a 10-0 loss so i wouldn't look into that one too much. Their name gives off some arrogance so i'd like them to get stuffed although i won't be around.

Get on up here Komp and be our Number 1 Goalie. I will work on some footage in the coming weeks for you. Will get some team pictures and everything.

Home and Away games are played on the same pitches so no advantage.
