Re: Assistant teacher suspended for refusing to remove her veil
Totally agree with the school on this one, if the kids have complained they can't understand her and they have asked her to take down the veil so they can see her mouth to do her job correctly. If she can not be understood she is not doing her job properly and obviously it's her decision not to take the veil down so she should find another job.

Re: Assistant teacher suspended for refusing to remove her veil
Nice to see an MP talking some sense for a change too.....
Dewsbury MP Shahid Malik backed the school's decision, saying: "In schools the top priority has got to be the education of our children. "I fully support the decision of the education authority and the school in requesting the classroom assistant remove her veil when teaching primary school children. "I believe the education authority has bent over backwards to be accommodating and has been extremely reasonable and sensible in the decision it has come to. "There is no religious obligation whatsoever for Muslim women to cover themselves up in front of primary school children." |

On the other hand...........

How fucking bitter and twisted are some stupid bastards? It's a pity the keystone cops don't take rape and murder as serious too !! Stupid bastards. If being in a group which is predominantly asian who don't speak English, is it not compromising the girls education? The stupid politically correct bastards. More and more every single day, there is something in the news about muslims, i really do think it is going to come to a head soon with riots and the like, i really do. They are literally untouchable. |

Re: Assistant teacher suspended for refusing to remove her veil
I worked in two Muslim countries (Kosova and Guinea) and I would have nothing but good to say about the people I met there. Religion was never an issue. In Muslim terms these countries would be very mild. A sizable minority of men dranka and you would almost never see veils (let alone full on burgas). I went to the Catholic churches in both places and again never an issue. Especially iN Guinea I felt that people's religion was an important part in keeping a very poor society together. Occsionally I would have to deal with an iman about some matter involving staff and again never any real problems. Two people with different religions talking about something of mutual interest.
The problem is that Muslim immigrants to Britain (and to a lesser extent) Ireland aren't coming from the more secular Muslim countries. They are radicalised and every clash with western society is viewed as trial of strength. Without being overly dramatic about it there is a sizable fifth column of Muslims in European countries that want to destroy European values as we know them. If you think that I am exaggerateing a friend of mine who worked in the Sudan for almost 10 years and speaks fluent Arabic has told me that if she is in a shop run by Muslims the main topic of conversation often revolves around western decadence and jihad. She has a sweet tooth for everything Arabic and shops a lot in the "Arab section" in Dublin's Camden street. I don't have any problems with immigration as long as it is controlled in some reasonable way. My wife is Albanian and we've seen up close and personal how badly genuine immigrants are treated in Ireland. My wife and most people who come to Ireland (and I suspect England too) want to make a better life for themselves and there families. It would be foolish however not to admit that a sizable minority mainly from Muslim backgrounds do not want this. It is us and them and they hate us as infidels.Meanwhile the unjust and illogical invasion of Iraq has united them all and visisted death (to the tune of 650,000 possibly) on Iraq which prior to the war was the most secular of the Gulf states. The wrong war is being fought in the wrong place and thousands of innocents are dying because of it while back home the fires of hatred in Muslim extremists are being fired up. States that open their borders to other people from outside the state have the right to expect those people to conform to certain minimum standards of those states. If that means that you can't wear a veil in certain cirumstances then you can't do that. Instead when Jack Straw makes a reasonable point about people coming to see him in his plae of business (and asking him for assistance to boot ) he is shouted down from a politically correct wing of his own party. The end result is that the extremes right and left win. Appeasement didn't get anywhere in 1938 and the sooner politicians wake up and smell the coffee the better. |

Re: Assistant teacher suspended for refusing to remove her veil
If I was in a science group with five people and only one spoke english I would want moved as well. When in Rome, do as the Romans. You'd never see five French people or five Chinese people in a School here who couldn't speak english, they would learn it. If I went to get a job in France I wouldn't expect everything to be written in English for me, I would have to learn French.
It's not always the same story when people come to Britain and seek work though, funny that. Race/religion isn't the issue, if the people actually had been French and spoke no English the same complaint would have come. Part of the point of group work at shcool is so you can discuss things and work together as a team towards finding a solution. This is part of your "training" so to say. If the people in the group cannot communicate then it sort of defeats the purpose of the group work. The girl is 14 ! Arrested and taken away for questioning ? What the fuck ?!?!? This kind of thing just fuels more hatred towards asians and the like. If I was the parent of the girl I would probably be starting a war myself over this. Plus exactly how is not learning english intergrating ? It's not.If you want to intergrate and be part of society, learn english, simple as that. If I wanna be part of French society I learn French and respect their customs. If I wanna be part of Japanese society I learn Japanese and respect their customs. If you wanna be part of British society you refuse to learn english, make everyone learn your language, tell them their customs are offensive and cry racism every two seconds and should a British person dare complain then they are a racist. Superb eh. |
