Easy money - Next Chelsea Manager

Watching MOTD there earlier, they were talking about the next Chelsea manager, Hansen said something like "it's going to be van Basten, isn't it? That's what I've been told"

So, knowing that this would almost certainly result in the price on Betfair to shorten (thanks to the sheep-like mentality of the average punter - "hey, Hansen's just said van Basten's the new Chelsea manager, it must be true") I quickly logged in and saw the price was 4.1

Threw £200 in at 4.0, got matched for £104, almost immediately layed some off at 3.7 before a few more rapid trades and within no more than 3 minutes the price was 3.0! Went in again at 3.0 (back) and tried to lay off at 2.8 but only a fiver matched, then the inevitable bounce happened so I had to get out at 3.15.

Have got a free bet of £74.30 on van Basten, not bad for a few minutes work

This works also on horse racing - if a jockey or trainer is interviewed before a race and gives a positive report on the horse's chance, it is almost certain to shorten seconds later.

Do they repeat this MOTD? If so, this will probably happen again.

I could have greened up and locked in a profit of around £23 but let it be....looked this afternoon and he was out to 9.4

just looked again and he's back in to 4.2 fav, if he goes odds-on I'll lay some off. These manager markets are crazy.

Redknapp reportedly 4/9 odds with highstreet bookmakers, some of whom apparently suspending their books, yet on bf he hasn't gone down below 6/4 and is currently 9/2. I smell shite.

Had a little tickle on Deschamps at the start and Boas when he went out to 11s but crazy seems to be the right for this one Seen you're right. Mind you most of these are. At the mercy of utter bullshite rumour and prattle as your fred shows!

If Redknapp does get the job would love to see a "will he last a day" market open.

Thanks for highlighting the market Seen. I hope they don't appoint until the end of July as the fluctuations do make it easy money.

I laid Harry initially (The 4/9 quoted was with Paddy Power and even then some of the other bookies were offering 2/1 ish so the market move in that direction has been highly exaggerated. I'm all green unless Pep moves from Barca and that's not going to happen.

Would like to see Hiddink there myself.
