Just after picking peoples brains here really.
As you all know im self excluded at Betfair, but the other exchanges are pish in comparison. My (mates) 6 month self exclusion has come to an end last month & theyve said to get it overturned he has to write them a letter, and there's no gaurantee's that it will be a success. Now I did mine a few years ago and got told no, but I just wrote a quick simple letter, handwritten, bit scruffy, didnt give any reasoning etc. Any tips/advice as to what he can put in the letter to give him a better chance than I had? Basically its just asking to have your exclusion lifted. Cheers, Grim |

Re: Writing a letter to Betfair - help!
I'd think you would need to demonstrate that you've faced the problem that led to self excluding & are equipped to deal with similar future problems via getting help at something like GA or www.gambleaware.co.uk
Ultimately Betfair now have the dilemma of taking back a customer who has a self declared problem. In order they don't get sued they will need assurances that he has overcome these problems or taken steps that would enable him to recognise if they resurface. |

If it really is for your mate, I fail to see the relevance of the first line quoted above anyway. |

Re: Writing a letter to Betfair - help!
I am with Betfly on this.
I find it HIGHLY unlikely you will get any account unlocked if YOU had asked to be excluded. Thats like an Drug addict asking to work in a pharmacy, saying na i have been clean for a month. I Doubt very much Betfair as a business will want to take that risk and unlock the account. I would also not reccomend using someone elses account either.Thats fraud and you could both get into trouble for that. i would not say that the other excahnges are rubbish. The only major thing is you can do the under £2 thing with them & some are poor on markets. What happened to the betfair account you were using on here a month back? You posted a screenshot.. Use that one. |

Re: Writing a letter to Betfair - help!
I'm not entirely sure if the law on self-exclusion has changed since I worked in a bookmakers (almost 2 years ago) but it's not the decision of the bookmaker to decide if the customer wants to start betting again.
In a branch scenario, if Grim had asked for a six-month exclusion, he's within his rights to request that he's allowed to bet again the second that six months period is over. The bookmaker has to give the customer 24 hours to go away and think about their decision. If, after the 24 hours, the customer still wants to resume gambling, the bookmaker has no right to refuse to take their bets (unless there is some other issue - money laundering, etc). I'm almost certain the online bookmakers are bound by the same laws. If Grim wishes to reopen his Betfair account after his exclusion period he should be given 24 hours to go away and think about the decision. If he still wants to after the 24 hours, Betfair should have no right to stop him, unless they suspect him of fraudulent activity, etc. I've excluded myself from an online bookmaker previoulsy, Bet365 if I remember correctly, but as soon as the exclusion period had expired I spoke to a customer service representative and was allowed to reopen my account. I see no reason why Grim shouldn't be allowed to do the same! Like I said though, the law could have changed in the past two years. |

Cheers Napoleon.
I do believe that you have to put it in writing so that they have no comeback if you get bk and then lose thousands. Regarding my acc - The one I was using recently has been closed. They didnt give a reason. Me & Betfair have a long history! Prob a mistake by them letting me reopen it? Didnt get a reason & they dont reply to email. Refunded me my balance at least! Regarding WBX & Betdaq, both have very limited markets, are mainly horse & US sport orientated, barely any football markets, low liquidity, and theyre always a tick or three worse than Betfair, backing or laying. As it stands now, im looking at having to use WBX, which means im stuck with racing as my main sport. Both are minimum £1 bets btw. |

Re: Writing a letter to Betfair - help!
I got it.
Get your partner to open a betfair account for you. ![]() *Joke mate. have you tried to open up a new account then? Using a new card. The only thing i can think you want to do at betfair is lay high odd horses. Like 25-1+ upwards, or get on the 100-1 on footy games. Am i right? Yorkie done quite well at Bet365 with backing low odds.. So that could be worth a go. |

I self excluded myself from everywhere, was every online bookie I could find - just had a mad day of it and decided to shut the lot down - maybe thats why they should give you 24 hrs - lol Its not that I want to lay stuff @ 25+, its if your consistently laying over the Betfair odds and say you want to get to £1000, its going to take an extra 50+ selections and thats 50 risks that you wouldnt have to take. Also they do some cracking cashback offer now almost everyday , that you can play to your best interests. Theyre cracking top-ups to little challenges etc. Also the WBX site is nigh on impossible to use on your phone, Betdaq not much better - wheras Betfair have Betfair mobile. Tried to open new accounts - my names blacklisted worldwide - lol - no new cards gona fix that ![]() So im left with either the bookies , or WBX at the end of this week. Might have to give that a whirl. |
