You've probably all heard the famous saying "there's no greater gambler in the world than an Irish gambler" and upon hearing it you've probably muttered something like "stupid Irish, why do they have to be so great. Not only are they good looking but they're suave and shrewd as well.

Have you ever felt like knocking those poxy leprechauns down a peg or two? Well here's your chance! Just wondering if the good people of thedailypunt would fancy a bit of a cross channel competition and a shot at the title? I was thinking of having some sort of Ryder Cup set up. Maybe two teams of 12 (or more if there's enough interest) with head to heads and a points target or something. Could be a bit of craic. Won't name the website as don't want to be accused of spamming but if the powers that be (komp, Slick, Mickey?) are interested let me know and we'll try and organise something.

PS We are willing to put our title of "Best looking gamblers in the world" on the line as well.
If this goes ahead I hope I get picked to play Mickey as he seems like a very happy go lucky sort of fellow and I really doubt he has the killer instincts needed to prevail in such a battle.

Sounds fine to me so long as it doesent manifest to be a spamming free for all, also when did Ireland go across the channel

lets see what sort of response you get first chief b4 taking it any further, if there's enough interest then we'll try and sort something out.

Yeah no probs Bigkegman. If it goes ahead make sure to read the rules. Rule 7 subsection a states that: Bigkegman is allowed to play but he is prohibited from betting on scottish and lower league games. He will however be free to bet on all Slovakian and Malaysian leagues.

Eh that cross channel thing was put in there by me on purpose. I was just testing the waters to see what sort of intellectual levels the opposition were at. You passed the test slick. You should put you on your team.

Anyway, yeah sure we'll wait and see if there's any interest. Have thrown the idea out on the Irish forum and there seems to be some interest that side. We didn't qualify for teh world cup you see so the competitive juices are flowing and we want to prove to teh world that we ain't rubbish.

We had a similar Comp over you know where many moons ago, was a Brit v rest of the world competition , I seem to recall that was also world cup based and a roaring success, suppose we could do something on similar lines to that or do you have something specific in mind?

To be honest I haven't really thought too much about it. The idea only came to me about an hour ago! I'm easy. Between us all we could knock up a few ground-rules and scoring system etc. No need for too many rules. keep it simple and just have some fun with it.

It was indeed a roaring success.
I remember battering GETT1NLOTS, by the widest possible margin and then he obviously called for a rule change

There'll be none of that messing with us keemanan. The Irish are an honourable breed of gambler. Plus we never lose so the situation wouldn't arise.

It was singles in 2 rounds Cheif, one round was UK and one was ROTW.
10 games were selected by the judges and we all had to predict the scores of the games. You got more points for a perfect prediction and standard points for getting the right result.

I only had a 42/1 winner this week so I'm a bit disappointed

Good stuff. Right men, I'll come back tomorrow and hopefully there will have been enough interest for us to get the ball rolling. We'll decide on team numbers and all taht jazz.

May as well strike while the iron is hot as these things tend to be forgotten about if left to drag on. Hopefully we can get a wee comp going as I reckon it'd be a good laugh. Talk tomorrow ladies and gentlemen.
