Bought one of these for the daughter at chrimbo and the games cost a packet, just spent nearly a ton today in fact on a few games, well she did out of her christmas booty.
It took me back to the gameboy advance days when the son had one and i bought a cartridge and ram for nearly £200 but could download any game i wanted and save a bit of cash.
I've just looked into if i could get the same thing for the Ds lite and
Bingo theres plenty about.
The ds ex-treme looks the dogs bollox as does something called a ninja pass but they all seem to be sold out so i've just bought a R4 for £35 that does the same job as the ninja....

all i need to add to it is a micro sd card , the sort of memory a mobile phone takes, I could pick up a 1 gig micro sd card for around £25 and they can store around 20 games, so for around 60 notes I can get any game i want for the DS or DS lite, have about 20 on the one card that is menu driven and save a packet.
I should imagine a few people have bought a Nintendo ds or lite for the nippers over christmas and if you want any more info then give me a shout and i'll also point you to where you can find the Nintendo game downloads (roms) on the net.
I'm still on the lookout for a Wii and hopefully if they are as they say backward compatilble there will be a way to play this on that also.
