Today's Bettingzone Market News:
1320: While Dustin the Turkey continues to ruffle people's feathers with his song 'Irlande Douze Points' the bookies are busy running for cover! Paddy Power have put Dustin top of the betting pecking order as the 5/1 favourite to win this year’s Eurovision Song Contest - despite the fact Ireland has yet to make it past the qualifying stage. Over £25,000 has already been placed on the foul mouthed puppet to win the song contest, with punters gobbling up the odds from an opening 33/1 all the way down to 5/1. ============= Some optimistic punters trying to land a gamBLE!! ![]() |

Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2008 (20th - 24th May)
I must admit I just love this rubbish that comes along every year, remember winning a few quid with Lordi and having a right good night.
I thought there were question marks about whether a puppet could enter? from a betting point of view, how a puppet known no-where but Ireland should be 5-1 sounds ridiculous but who knows, anyone heard the song yet? |

Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2008 (20th - 24th May)
...Boyle Sports go 3/1 for Ireland to win though!
![]() Today's Bettingzone Market News: 1020: Paddy Power have reported 'nil interest' in this year's UK song choice for Eurovision. Less than one hundred bets have been placed so far on the outcome of this Saturday's 'Your Decision' which will decide the act that represents the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest in May. Even though the BBC have been giving the show a big billing all week and organisers have recruited semi-recognisable faces in the hope of pulling in their X-Factor/Lloyd Webber viewers, punters are showing about as much interest as they would a flat Bucks Fizz. Paddy Power have made girl act 'The Revelations' their 15/8 favourite to win the public vote this weekend ahead of what many are considering a poor shortlist of potential flag fliers. Former X Factor hopeful Andy Abraham is the 5/2 second favourite followed by former Eastender turned singer Michelle Gayle at 9/2. Further down the bookies list are singers Simona Armstrong at 5/1 and Rob McVeigh at 6/1. Both rose to fame when they were short-listed for the role of Joseph and Mariah in Andrew Lloyd Webber's talent search shows. Meanwhile, it's a whopping 100/1 that the UK will go all the way and win this year's Eurovision Song Contest. Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power, said: "Forget "nil points", there's been "nil interest" in the UK's entry for Eurovision this year. "None of the six acts particularly stand out from the crowd and as a result the betting isn't busy. "Most of our UK punters have turned their attention to Ireland's entry Dustin to go all the way." The UK will make their decision this Saturday as to which act will go forward to represent them at the Eurovision in May. |

Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2008 (20th - 24th May)
Right I've got 25 minutes to listen to these GB hopefuls - this one crept up a little.
Revelations - favourites, cheery Euro fare. Mmmm pretty safe, but deffo beatable. Let's see if there is something to beat it. Andy A - that's not a Eurovision song. Forget it. Loveshy - puh. Rob - ballad, not the worst idea, but there's nothing to it. I could write that, and no doubt he'll be like a big drip on stage. Simona - another nothing entry. Michelle - haha that's a bit better, something with a bit of bite. A bit of nonsense...Wooo...yeah I like it, I'm boppin away here. ------------------------------------------ So let's have a look at the odds, well this is a field of absolute garbage and it should be between the two girl groups and Michelle for me. And no-one should be 26.00 in this field. Michelle Gayle @ 26.00 for me, but if the Revelations win its not a complete disaster. Any of the others, and we're heading for trouble again. |
