Tonight the Dutch people chose one of five songs performed by 3JS. It was clear last week when the selection panel released a preview of each song which one would win, but you never quite know which way the Dutch will go


Anyway, they went with the right song.

He's got fantastic control over his voice. I hope they continue to develop this as it has qualifier written all over it. It's a rough diamond at the moment. With better instrumentation and a slight re-jigging of the arrangement, it could be a great entry.

Another live video, this time without the production filters. Still sounds very smooth with his voice.

Still not clear as to whether or not they'll sing in English at Eurovision.

It's official, 3JS will be singing in English. Qualification assured in my opinion.

I dislike this intensely even though they have Marco Van Basten on guitar. It's the usual crap you'll hear down the local social club. One for the middle aged, mild mannered, couples. It makes me go "Urrrgh!" which isn't a good sign. I feel it's going nowhere I'm sorry to say.

As I've said before, I can see this doing well. It has the right sound to qualify, he is flawless when singing live and the whole package is just about current enough.

We'll have to see what draw they get today.

The English version really pushes this song toward qualification, even though it was fairly certain in Dutch.

Still available at over evens to qualify. Yes please, I'll be having some of that!

I'm with Mickey on this. Boring radio pop. He is a decent singer, and may sneak in to the final, but I think they miss the final once again.

This video pushes it past boring radio pop and a Ruud van Nistleroy's brother impression,but he will have to maintain this standard and keep engaged with the camera. The more I listen to these songs the more open I believe this contest has become; the winning song will have to be a compromise somewhere down the line..

This gets worse the more I listen. Truly awful, amateurish and embarrassing. I will actually be quite shocked if this qualifies.

edit: jesus christ - no way this can get in. I've used this simile many times before but it's like a crap soap opera actor has released a single and is appearing on shitty UK daytime television. Woeful. Mental if this qualifies.

the bookies agree with you - the odds are astronomical...

however, i ran the entries past a few casual listener last night and they rated it top 5. @29.0 for a top 10 position and @4.5 to qualify (albeit from the strongest group) it might be worth a small stake punt. i'm still thinking about it...

what do others think?

Are you sure you have the right country? Odds to Q is no higher than 2.5-2.7 from what I can see, and it's actually in the weak semi (number 2).

yep sorry, must have had one too many whiskies when i looked at that one.

probably subjective which is the stronger SF. as i was watching the SF compilations i found myself enjoying SF2 more.

Yeah, I'm basing the level on competition a lot on all "neighbour powerhouses" being crammed into semi 1. Makes a big difference, regardless of actual quality
