So wait a second - their 'protest vote' against a song of which one of the criticisms is that it's for Azerbaijan but was written and produced by Swedes, is to vote for a Welshman singing in English for Cyprus(atleast it was written by a Cypriot.) Weird!

Azerbaijan efforts this time round in that, it has pumped millions of petroleum dollars into raising its profile through the Eurovision media. To the point this time where it even offered journalists free air fares and tickets as prizes to this years contest if they would write something glowing ahead of the contest about its entrant Safura.

Hmmm! Hmmmmmm!!!! And perhaps some jury bribing!!??

I dont doubt it for a second Mick - I suggested it a while ago on the Azerbaijan thread. I'd be amazed if a country that has tried every trick in the book hasn't had a quiet word with a few jury members around Europe.

The juries only have 5 people per country - nobbling a few wont make much of a dent in the budget.

Allegedly.

Btw if Azerbaijan win I think there would be a pretty big backlash - I dont think the EBU wants them to win but they've probably got less money/influence than the Azeris!

This will be the country’s third song at Eurovision, and judging by its efforts this time round to get more Eurovision journalists involved in its activities, it suggests it still wants to learn how it can win this damnable contest by hook or by crook!

And while that is no bad thing, it does suggest that winning is the only name of the game. Particularly judging by the manner in which the country’s over zealous security police hauled in that poor guy last year for having the affront to TV vote for another country while living in Azerbaijan.

It used to be a piss take m8 but Since Turkey won a few yrs back netting a few of us big bucks its become rather serious, its become the grand national of Europe in betting terms as with a good pick you really do get a good run for your money and on the night its a great laugh.

I dunno. The juries went pretty much exactly where we thought they would last year. I think they'll play fair. And recognise the glorious talent of Azerbaijan.
