Ireland Ireland

Thought I'd stick this up now as I noticed paddypower had odds for who would be the entry and I think it's on tomorrow in Ireland? I could go hunt around - I think the fav is a fella from Boyzone or summat?

edit: ffs - now their market has disappeared. I was looking at it this bloody morning. It wasn't tonight was it? Their song thing?

Re: Ireland

Mickey, these are the finalists for Saturday night's final. I'm off work, so i'll be watching a few finals that night.

1 Leanne Moore Does heaven need much more (cheesy pop that will be awful live)
2 Lee Bradshaw River of silence (song is weak and badly constructed)
3 Mikey Graham Baby nothing is wrong (yucky and slow)
4 Monika Ivkic Fashion Queen (cloned song Aguilera - Candyman)
5 Niamh Kavanagh It's for you (slow, very Irish with money shot notes) (best one)

Re: Ireland

And here it is!

This should be a certain qualifier. There are a few loose notes. The musical arrangement could do with some drama during the earlier parts. Also, drop the falsetto harmonies during the fortissimo - it doesn't work!

With some work, this could be a decent contender!

Re: Ireland

It's awfully Irish, even down to the bloke performing.......oh....she's pure hackett so she is. Oh ffs can they not leave the penny whistles for one fucking year?!

Mmmm, I cant agree gav, its too 'churchy' for me...its almost close to a 'You cant stop the Spring' effort from 07(?) which finished dead last and just isnt modern eurovision at all. Qualifier prob, winner, not for me.

Re: Ireland

I agree in parts Beanie. I certainly don't have it as a winner, but that Irish sound is popular - hence why Norway have an Irish sound too.

If they can evoke more drama, it is decent entry. At this point, it's just nice to have a solid entry in the semis!

Re: Ireland

I don't quite get the hype on this one. It's decent enough, but definitely not a winner (especially not coming from Ireland). And I won't be betting on it to qualify at the 1.20-ish given right now, either.

Re: Ireland

Unbearable. Another Disney effort and just as bad as Norway's to me. It will delight the grannies and grandads but I expect everyone else to be spewing buckets of vomit, as I am now. Urrrrgh.

Re: Ireland

Paddy power @ 1.33 to qualify and 3.00 to disappear for ever into my vomit bucket. Get in my bucket!

God it's so dull. It will qualify though.

edit: maybe not. Georgia's is better.

Re: Ireland

Anyone feeling brave? 3.25 not to qualify @ boylesports. I've only just started considering this, but I think the final qualifying place is between either Ireland, Romania and Georgia.

Out of those songs... I'd say Ireland at the moment

Re: Ireland

I'm torn between this and Georgia too. Georgia was more boring than I remembered. Listening to this again though and my god. This could be my least favourite this year. It's really got my nostrils flaring furiously. Cringe, cringe, cringe. Awful. Buddha wept. There are enough twits to vote this kind of bollocking pish through. Urrrrrgh.

It's worse than Georgia in my mind by quite a distance but Georgia is just so forgettable. This is hard work.

Re: Ireland

This has turned out quite well. The final 40 seconds concern me though, those backing singers' harmonies are a bit too prominent. This has probably slipped back into qualification territory... for now!

edit: She bombed that last note didn't she!!

Re: Ireland

I thought she would be a lot better than this. This kind of song require flawless vocals and this is far from flawless.

Re: Ireland

Zzzzzzzzzzzzz....wake me up when its over. I find her and the song the least engaging 'contender' this year. In a year with too many ballads this is exactly the type to pay the price imo.
