Re: Melodifestival 2010
Would you believe I typed out a similar post on Saturday night and decided not to bother at that time as I hadnt had a chance to get up to speed on some of the later qualifiers. But I agree - for me its head and shoulders above the others(although I really hate the nonsense with the fake instruments that the 4 girls do - it looks ridiculous. Give them one of those mammoth drums each and then we're talking. Only thing that holds me back is that Sweden has seen a bit of a move away from Schlager songs since Hero did so poorly a few years ago - although this is different enough to distinguish it from ones like that. Im trying to track down the polls I was looking at when this qualified - it hadnt quite picked up the popular support that I thought it might, but meh, at those odds its worth a sheckle or two, agreed on that much. Kom Kom Kom!

Re: Melodifestival 2010
It won it's group Beanie.
Looking at Youtube, this song has the highest viewers and ratings of the top4 last time I checked. It seems a lot of people are routing for this one to win and have pointed out that it would appeal to the Baltics. They are all music students who can actually play those instruments. Why they don't is beyond me. But if this qualifies, it's becomes very interesting! (also check out one of Greece's potential songs with the rapper)! |

Re: Melodifestival 2010
Tonights the first time I've listened to the Berghendal song...and it's better than I was expecting. Surely benefits big time from the other hyped songs being very different - if its going to command most of the ballad votes then it will be tough to stop(Darin surely isnt a strong enough singer to get any more than the teen votes?).
Do the regional juries still have the level of influence they have in recent years squall? I guess they would probably go for the ballad too... That said, I could do with as few female ballads progressing so that they dont step on Croatia's toes so Im hoping Sweden temporarily loses its sanity and sends Eric Saade

Re: Melodifestival 2010
Beanie:
I think Darin will get more than just teen votes - otherwise he's in for a train wreck. There just aren't enough teens voting in MF, as I understand it. The winner seems to be the favourite among 30-50 year olds. Anyway, I see him about fifth. Regarding juries, they allocate (together) as many points as the popular vote, but as their points tend to spread out I'd say they're much less powerful. They're not likely to move the result more than one step from the popular vote (that is, bringing 2nd to 1st) - if that. Last year, Måns Zelmerlöw was grand jury favourite, but still finished 4th overall. Of course, it will be interesting to see what effect it will have that half the juries are now from abroad (two west europe, two east, two south). |

Quote:
One interesting factor, is that Kom will have to drop 2 of those drummers for the semis and the final, as ESC rules state only 6 performers are allowed per song. |
