Cyprus Cyprus

THE FINAL SELECTION FOR CYPRUS
Bit boring, but at least he can hold a tune, which was the chief downfall of last year's entry. I think the whole performance was filmed by students on work experience and check how interested that bass player looks @ 2:30.

Re: Cyprus

Errrr...what? Is his name really Jon Lilygreen? Does he really keep singing 'Tell me about your feelings?' I knew this year was gonna be good.

Re: Cyprus

"Bit boring" is an understatement. One of the most boring this year I think. It's going nowhere. Probably not even a qualifier. Don't think I'll have to return to this thread. Ever again.

Re: Cyprus

Desperately out of tune - it's a shocker!

Wait.... hear that? It's the sound of rusty nails being driven into a coffin ready to bury this horrid composition 6ft under!

Re: Cyprus

Out of tune, yes, but he have a good voice (in eurovision standards). This is a live preformance and he actually playing the guitar. I think he can do better with music in a earpiece and when he don't have to play the guitar for real. I think he can get some jury votes, at least denmarks shitty ronan keating radio pop last year did good around the juries (6th place in the jury vote and 19th in the viewers)

Re: Cyprus

Denmark was a decent song, which incidentally, was solidly performed by the band and singer.

This kid sounds like a busker fresh from a heavy session at his local pub. The song is horrendously tedious, in addition to the fact that most of the song is performed out of key! Akebono, you just can't defend songs like this. Cyprus didn't qualify last year with a song 100 times better than this. The juries will hate it and so will the public. It's just depressing. Some songs just can't cut it, and this is one of them!

Re: Cyprus

Lol, well I don't agree with that, couldn't stand Denmark last year, bridge and the beginning of the chorus was out of tune at least. Are you one of those jury members?

Yes Cyprus last year was really a good song but she couldn't sing at all. Out of 100 random people it would be possible to pick 90 that could sing better than her.

I don't think that this is as bad as you think, but I still rank it around 11-12th place in semi 2 and I don't know why I defend it because I will neither back or lay this.

Re: Cyprus

One of my favourite moments so far at 1:17 - fella in the crowd trying to provide some backing vocals. "Aaah ah aaaaah". Blummin' marvellous. Unlike this song. It's just so incredibly dull and lacking in creativity and pretty poorly performed. Bleeeeuch.

It's good to voice your opinions though, Ake. It's part of the fun.

Re: Cyprus

Fairly sure this will miss out - its just a little blah. Nothing there to grab any votes, although his voice isnt awful.

Re: Cyprus

It has improved, but nowhere near enough to stand a chance of qualification. They've changed the "tell me about your feelings" key; this for me sounds strange, it's like someone is playing with the pitch-bend!

Re: Cyprus

I dont think it's going to make it, there's middle of the road and then there's this. Its a showy semi final with lots of big songs scrambling for votes and this is going to get lost somewhere in amongst them all. Quite like the performance tho.

Re: Cyprus

1st dress rehearsal

Still sounds really whiny. I like his guitar double string playing though!
