Re: Spain
Voting has opened on the 300+ applicants to represent Spain this year. There are 17 days left to register votes, in which the top-10 will be put through to the live final to compete at the eurovision finals.
Currently leading the vote is the Joke entry sung by Madge from the hit TV comedy, Benidorm [may as well have been]. In second place in that sure contender for the Eurovision title, Coral Segovia with En Una Vida (previous post). Have no doubt, this girl can belt it out live!! Why this Coral song...? Well the strong echoed R&B beat is very now with recent ballads. Look at Leona Lewis, two of her most successful songs have been made in this format; both of which have stormed Europe. This song also pisses all over Ciara's most successful Malta outing! Given the stage show and dramatic lighting that can accompany this song, and the fact it's a spine-tingler, it has to be taken seriously. Tell me what you think as it's a certainty to get to the Eurovision Finals. |

Re: Spain
Hmmmm. Not really my cup of tea, gavin. I wanted to switch it off at 1:30 - horrible, slow beginning and only picks up slightly before reverting to being a bit bland and so so. Sounds kinda midtable to my untrained lugs. As always, it would depend on the quality (or lack of) of the rest of the competition. Personally I'd be surprised if it was a contender, assuming it made it.

Re: Spain
I agree Mickey, it does depend on what comes from other countries. I can also use last year as an example. When Norway brought out pixie boy, there were loads and loads of videos of him on Youtube. It has also happened to this song, there are loads of copies already when compared to other countries who's songs have been released a lot longer. Coral's song has barely been on a Youtube a week!
I'm not saying it's a winner already, but it does have that big performance quality about it. It's better than UK last year, way better than any of Ciara's stuff, better than the Serbian Lesbian. At this very early stage, this song is the front runner, and in my opinion, will certainly be top-5 potential. There's even a live bagpipe player on stage (not very spanish I know) but this just ticks boxes that'll translate well to the TV viewers. It is also sung in Spanish, which ticks the judges boxes! p.s only other song I like in a major way is the Norwegian Dragontower! Last edited by Gavster : 19-01-2010 at 10:59. Reason: p.s |

Re: Spain
I noticed it was trying to cram in a bit of everything and 'tick boxes'.
Call me cynical.....Major difference between this and Norway last year though is that Norway was actually a very enjoyable song. This is nowhere close to that standard I don't think. I even prefer last year's Spanish entry (mostly because of their singer I suppose - what a BABE!!). |

Re: Spain
Well I have noticed the abrupt ending, and with some reworking and intelligient stage management it could win you round I think!! Although I think the abrupt ending is ok if they use pyrotechnics.
I'll wait till I see a live version, then I will check the spine-tingle monitor! Last edited by Gavster : 19-01-2010 at 11:47. Reason: spelling |

Re: Spain
I didn't even get as far as the ending.
I had to stop after 2 minutes. Might grow on me as you say. Plenty have in previous years although they almost always end up going nowhere. I'm planning to rely a lot more on my first impressions this year. |

Re: Spain
Haha Beanie, you posted as I was typing. I was that shocked by the result I had to get a drink! Those bloody muppets on the continent eh? The sun must really affect them!
So here's what I said (as I'll get Komp to delete that extra Spain thread). "I can officially annouce that Spain have arsed up their Eurovison campaign by choosing Daniel Diges, which just beat Coral Sergovia's Top-5 potential power ballad. I have to say I'm shocked. Coral's song had the Eurovision judge's money shot potential. The song kinda reminds me of Poland's entry in the way it goes all mental at the end like in some nasty demented nightmare." |

Re: Spain
I've stopped it before it even hit 50 seconds. You can quote me on this: "WOE FUCKING FUL".
Awful. Dreadful. Shockingly boring and utterly shite. Ok. I shall now listen to the rest of it. edit: no. I can't go beyond the 1 minute mark. One of the worst efforts I've ever heard. Even worse than Israel last year. It's actually offensive. Loook, I'm offended ![]() |
