Turkey Turkey

I like that instrument in the background...and thats about it...

I was speaking to Mickey about this one - its just the usual cut and paste Eurovision effort. Also, I can guarantee that that song will sound pretty horrendous live, and thats always one of the most important things.

Turkey will always get quite a few points due to the huuuuuuge expat vote, but beyond a top 10 based solely on that, that's as far as this song goes.

Chances: Outside chance of top 10 from expat votes, but not a winner for me.

this is mainly weird. though these types of songs have done really good lately, but still.. the song is just stupid.

Re: Turkey

I can't remember hearing this one. Ehhhm.... I'm guessing I really hated it on first listen but there are a few songs sounding a whole lot more interesting to me having been through everything else that's currently out.

It's generally still a pretty horrible song (Jeremy Kyle fans will lap it up I imagine) but there are things I'm liking. I suppose it is all about the background stuff. The pipes. The beat. And her ass.

Turkey are never easy to write off no matter what they enter. It's certainly not going to win though. Well, it's not impossible but... it won't win. Honest.

Re: Turkey

It's an indication of how weak the field is this year that I keep coming back to this.

I'm finding it more and more catchy and interesting. Forgive me? And incredibly, I'm not hearing too much elsewhere that's similar. That ever popular, ethnic R&B. Or something.

I'll absolutely be looking for better than the 13.00 currently available @ betfair however. I think I'll be more interested in the top 10 odds. I'm scribbling it down as one to watch. I don't have many.

Re: Turkey

I do dislike agreeing with Mick so much but having had this as 'outside chance of top 10', the hopelessly weak field doesnt really offer up 10 that will beat it. Looks a fairly safe top 10 to me, but at current odds it doesnt look tempting at all.

I'd still have doubts over her ability live mind you, but the instrumentals are fairly strong compared to other entrants, but that isnt saying too much.

Re: Turkey

I can't find anything of her performing live and it's driving me barmy. I also have my doubts about her live singing and that really is the key to this. If she's capable then I believe this should certainly be one to keep tabs on. It doesn't sound like it should be overly challenging but it'll still fall to pieces if she's crap.

Re: Turkey

She's not very good is she? It's gone down a wee bit for me. We'll see. She's not woefully bad. Deals with the high notes just fine. I'm not writing it off. Actually, towards the end she does good enough. I think she shows some promise. Uh huh.

Re: Turkey

Yeah, she did well towards the end as it was the backing track. This still has a little something most others don't. Will there be anything worth betting on at any point? I do not know.

Re: Turkey

turkey always turn out something that goes close. I like the starto..ooo dancing music....holy fcuk she's a bit strict sounding...im tempted to turn this off 1:43 into the song. the bang bang bang nearly works. Her on an empty staghe doesnt work either. Maybe if they had some dancers with fire then i could get into it more.

Best priced 12/1 at Boylesports

Re: Turkey

There is a market for this type of song, but I think she does look lost, and all in all, the song is a bit boring and a re-hash of the typical "Turkish sound."

Top 10 perhaps. The odds are too low on this really. (it's will probs get top 5 now)!!

Re: Turkey

I've still got it down as a contender. I think the best odds have been 13/1 so far and I was never really tempted by that. I think it'll hit the top 10 for sure though.

Re: Turkey

I just hate this format of song, both in Eurovision and in normality. There's no originality whatsoever.

Re: Turkey

I agree gavin. Every year I give these songs a hard time but I don't think there are any others like it this year (I honestly can't think of any off the top of my head) which makes it more interesting to me betting wise. I definitely expect it to have a decent number of fans. I'm finding her extreme attempt at an American accent pretty off putting mind.

Re: Turkey

It is a rip off of holly valance's "kiss kiss" in parts you know.

I think the woman looks very strange, I think people will concentrate on that, especially the women.

I do think it is top 5 potential though, but I wouldn't bet on it, just on principal!
