Re: Albania
Having a 2nd look at the more interesting entries and this still sticks out. I'm not saying it'll win, but it's a carbon copy of the Eastern Euro songs that have gone well over the last 3 years and have a look out for this possibly sneaking into the top 10 at big odds.

Re: Albania
I stiiiiilll like this...it's not got a great draw but geography will help on this one and rehearsals are going well:

Re: Albania
Nice song which could do with some 'oomph' injected into it. I really quite enjoyed the 2nd vid then tried the 1st one which I found started off too zzzzz dull and never really seemed to pick up. I'm not entirely sure what they've done differently in the 2nd (one listen each) but that one has some potential. The beginning sounded much more interesting anyway.
Tricky one. I like it but I think they could make it a stormer by adding something. I'm not sure what. Just to make it a little more memorable. I'll scribble it down as one to think about for tomorrow as I go through the rest. Just tried them both again and they have reworked the opening in the 2nd vid. Definitely picked it up a bit. Nice. edit: just read your 1st post in here Beanie and seems we both wanted a little more 'oomph'. |

Starts slow, picks up a little, ends good. Slick but a tad uninspiriing to me and its bang smack in the middle of the draw. Although i still see it sneaking through - lets be honest there is alot more offensive songs on the ears! |

Re: Albania
Agreed, it's still a little slow, our Israeli had that big chorus to pick his up, this lacks slightly but rehearsals are better. That said, this is a very upbeat semi - Sweden, Iceland, Ukraine, Latvia etc etc are all 1000bpm madness, even the other ballads like Switzerland have a dancy bit put into them, and so I think as one of the few more 'heartfelt' (gulp) efforts, this should stand out nicely.
I'll have a look at the geography tomorrow but I think its important here and good news for albania...can count on help from Macedonia(big time), Serbia, Turkey and decent little expat communities around europe(100k of them in Switzerland!) They get everywhere the little blighters. |

Re: Albania
Interesting. The first video is the one I'm suddenly raving about in the in-running thread. It could be that after listening to some of the other contenders then that one again, I realised the overwhelming quality compared to the others.
So, with that performance from vid 1 and the slightly reworked opening of vid 2 - there's more than enough overall to get through. Faith. I have it. I'm still shitting myself though. One more thing. I don't think any song I've liked has failed to qualify since I started this in 2002. Easy money. ![]() |

Re: Albania
Right enough Mick - altho I think it's worth chancing in some way for the final for 2 reasons...a) as noted on the final thread, the Balkans didn't see that many progress with the unexpected exits of Slovenia, Hungary, Macedonia and Bulgaria. They'll rally behind the remaining entrants to some degree(even if it is those despised Albanians!
), particularly if its a 'local' or cultural sound like this is.2nd of all I think this has a great draw, sandwiched between the worst 2 entries in the final(UK and Germany) - its big odds to do anything but you can't rule out a upper table finish. |

Re: Albania
I think her age is a major plus as slight wobbles and nerves could be overlooked (hopefully). If she can hit the same performance as the video that impressed me so much I'd be interested in backing this in some capacity.
Listening again to the semi perfomance and.... bloody hell. I feel like I've hit a one outer on the river. Really felt it was touch and go as she wobbled far more than I'd like. Never hits top gear or even close. It's quite bad in fact. I'd hate to have to rely on 'political' or 'geographical' voting or whatever we want to call it. See what kind of odds we can get though - I don't want to rule it out completely.Last edited by MickeyPaul : 23-05-2008 at 19:29. |
