That price for Chelsea looks way too big to me. Aren't Spartak the ones that play on the artificial pitch? I seem to remember a lot being made of the surface but whenever I've watched them against anyone semi decent they've been decidedly average and Chelsea are in the mood to hand out a pasting without having to worry about playing anyone decent in the prem next week (which is always a factor to take into account).

I'm not a believer in just backing the favourites blindly in european competition but I think this one is definitely one to be on.

Just like Wayne Rooney, I'm always on the look out for a decent lay at a good price and I've considered Valencia but discarded them like a used condom and plumped for Real Madrid. Madrid are never reliable against anyone and if you'd backed them at odds on in Europe and La Liga in the last three years or so you'd probably have gone broke. AC Milan are no world beaters but neither are they a pushover and this price is good enough to tempt me to lay.

going to lump on valencia at 6/5 bet 365, watched them saturday night against barca and they gave them a real game, rangers aint no barcelona.

Was planning on getting stuck into Man Utd on the handicap for this one but the odds are a bit shittier than I was hoping. Bursaspor were defensively woeful against Rangers I thought (a lot of ball watching back there) and were pretty poor overall and I imagined Man U beating them rather easily.

Man Utd to win to nil perhaps at 1.90? Win both halves @ 2.25?

I've watched the last three R.Madrid games and make no mistake Mourinho is building another great side, I actually think they will win the Spainish league this season, they have a power that Barca don't. If anything Barca have too many small, creative players in their side, they are too one-dimensional and this season sides are finding it a bit easier to play against them. I am no fan of Ibrahimovic but he did give them something different and he did score goals, I think they will miss him. Madrid's two best signings will be Khedira and Ozil, they are good, good players. Mourinho has Real organized and they will be, like all Mourinho sides, v.difficult to beat over two legs in the knockout stages I honestly think they could win the CL.

I would only say don't underestimate them.

Not the way they are playing defensively or offensively at the min for me, West Brom gifted them two goals at the weekend..But then Ferguson needs a result so I wouldn't be surprised if they win 4-0! Be more inclined to back them on a handicap than the HT/FT as I've found it more reliable over the years..might be a good time to back Utd might be a crap time to back Utd, I'm not sure to be honest. Bet that helps ya

I know they've been losing focus a lot when they seem to be cruising which is a bit of a worry. Bursaspor really were shit though when I saw them against Rangers. They just stand around in defence looking at each other and I reckon Man Utd could take them apart (much as Valencia did).

I nearly shite my pants with Excitement then when I saw Valencia @ 7.5's , as usual our odds system has let us down.

Leamingtonlads lumping on at 6/5, that looks a bit short if you ask me, so I'd be carefull there m8 on how much you lump on.

I can't see Manu having much trouble against Bursaspor, they're going through a bad patch but surely its not that bad. Still United are too short to interest me.

Inter might be worth a shout as I've seen nothing from Spurs this yr apart from the first game of the season thats made me sit up and take note, Spurs will have thier work cut out here to even nab a draw, I might have a wee double on Inter and Arsenal.
I'm also tempted by lyon as they have become Champs League pedigree's at progressing to the knockout stages but i haven't seen anything of them this year to justify casting an opinion, maybe soembody can fill me in.

I see where your coming from but I am going to give them a few more games before judging them as until 3-4 games ago I thought although they were grinding out narrow wins they were putting in extremely poor performances that had their opponents had a bit more class in front of goal we might have been seeing them a few places lower in the league.

7.00 for Milan - A side that contains some phenomenal attacking talents such as Ronaldinho, Pato, Robinho and Zlatan....I would be risking only on this outcome for a bit of value.

This will be the game I will be tuning in for - hopefully a repeat of that thriller we had in the Bernabau last season.

Milan were a bigger price last year and won here, and this team according to the AC forums is much better. The RUMOURS are that as both teams are sponsored by BWIN theyre could be a carve up as last years 2 games went very much as needed. Milan needed a win in Madrid, something theyd never done before, and duly won. And in the game in milan both teams needed a point and it duly ended 1-1.

Coming from someone who has opposed a poor milan team numerous times away in europe, only to see them get outplayed and somehow get wins and draws, just like Ajax last time, and Marseille last year, and Madrid last year, I wouldnt be taking the 1.60 on Real. Deffo one to watch , or swerve!

Couldnt touch Arsenal either Slick. Shaktar are very nifty away from home, and Arsenal have been wobbling recently. Lucky against Brum on Saturday and lost the previous 2 games. Another swerve for my money!

Braga - Partizan is 2 poor teams who shouldnt be in the comp in all honesty as they cant cut it. Braga, just, but couldnt touch them at 1.70

Bayern are having a mare of a season and Cluj are punchless. Probably Bayernm but Cluj will get 11 behind the ball and did win in Roma last year in similair circumstances. 1.28 too short for a depleted Bayern.

Roma also have a good few out and though Basle are awful, losing 8 on the spin in the CL and losing on all their italian sorte`s, they may well nab a draw. I would touch this game. Roma should nick it, but not 1.50 material

Chelsea have key men out, and lost on their last game at Spartak. Chelsea are clearly the better team but have struggled away in the CL over the last few seasons and Spartak are scoring goals for fun. The plastic pitch will help them no end, and it`ll be pretty damm cold. Chelsea never 1.80. Another swerver!

I was impressed with Ajax at home to Milan, they should have won, and theyve won 15 of their last 17 at home. They NEED to win this game and will do everything they can to do just that. Auxerre are having a torrid time at the minute, numerous men out including their main strikers. They`ll sit back from the start and try to nick it, but thats very dangerous against a rampant Ajax attack who know where the goals are. Clear home win for me and the 1.70 at the bookies comapres favourably to the current 1.64 at Betfair. Well worth a bet.

Marseille are playing ok without any fireworks - and they get the job done against weaker opposition. Its a tough place to go, and tonights opposition are just what they need to get their CL campaign back on track. Zilina are clearly outclassed in this competition, Chelsea could have 12 in Zilina on the opening day and they got mullered in their 2nd game in Spartak. Clear home win, albeit maybe not by the scoreline. Marseille dont ruin teams , similair to most french teams. Marseille to win to nil.

Ijust think valencia has far to much class for an average rangers side and 6/5 will do for me, Lyon have started the season badly with only two wins from 8 before sundays game with 6th place lille, Lyon won 3-1 and looked like they may be starting to find their form

Arsenal-Shakhtar

Another European night,another chance for winnings .
This group brought me decent money in first two rounds,and will keep forcing this games.

Arsenal will host Shakhtar in, what should be, great game.

Hosts are joy to watch in CL,their attacking football is the most exiting in Europe,IMO.Passes,many great runs and moves is why the many people admire this team.
They cant play that sort of football in England,as most of the teams are physically stronger, but in Europe is different story.
In first two games, Arsenal showed why they are number 1 favourite to win group.
Trashing Braga and made them look like team which dont deserve to play CL is not easy job.Braga is good team,and team for respect,trust me.In Begrade ,Arsenal won without half team,and i had impression with half power.
Today,Cesc is back,and will start,IMO.He wants to play,he need games to back in shape and he is ready,which is most important.Also there are Arshavin,Nasri,Wolcott may start,and Chamakh (player i really admire).

Shakhtar Donetsk,very good team from previous seasons,dont play the best in this.
Everyone who watched them in their League and in CL will say that.They dont creating chances easy and arent trustable in defense.
In first game against Partizan,Shakhtar had few chances but they won only thanks to great FK from captain Srna.After conceding goal ,Partizan started to play (small teams usually do that) ,and create several chances. In that time,Partizan saw they can match much bigger team,but it was late.
Shakhtar won against Braga,result very good ,but when i saw that game ,couldnt believe my eyes.Braga create numerous chances,but they just didnt have luck.Insted of that , two great moves from Luiz Adriano ,solved the game.
For today Fernandinho is out ( longer time),while Chygrynskyi is back.


Will be good game,Shakhtar cant hold Arsenal attack,but because of Arsenal crappy defense,i cant play HW.Djourou have potencial but he isnt top defender,along with Clichy.Instead i will play Arsenal to score two or more.I cant see Shakhtar holding Arsenal attack,Partizan created few chances gainst them,I cant believe Braga didnt scored,but Gunners wont make same mistake.Should be open game and i can also see Shakhtar scoring.

I really feel that Shakthar will score tonight which makes me be more than sure that both teams will score tonight. Shaktar is a team that it not easy to beat, a team that plays offensive football, a team which relies more on their attacking force rather then their defence.
They've achieved notable results in the past European seasons managing to give real headaches to big teams such as Barcelona, Inter Milan, AS Roma and many other teams...
That was the past - now I feel that they will be looking to go further in the competition so I'm backing them to score tonight against Arsenal.
