Re: Champions League 28-29th Sep
A few games caught my eye as follows:
1. Basel at home to Bayern are a big price, bearing in mind Bayern have had an awful start to the season. Basel have had an Ok if unspectacular start, but the odds on a home win look tempting, or possibly a DNB. 2. Shaktar away to Braga also looks a big price. Shaktar top of the league in Ukraine and on a rich vein of form. Braga league form looks Ok, but I am going on how awful they looked against both Celtic and Arsenal. 3.Bursaspor away to Rangers. Bursaspor top of the Turkish league and in great form (apart from the drubbing by Valencia in the CL). Rangers, although in great form on paper are playing in a second rate league. I also think that if Steven Davis does not play (he is doubtful) that they are very beatable at home. This is my pick of the 3 for an away win. |

Re: Champions League 28-29th Sep
Ajax look huge at home to AC at 6/4. They were 2.90 at Betfair last night and are now into 2.50 after huge support all day !
So I went to find out why! Aparently Ajax were pretty bad away to Real in the 2-0 defeat, but had 4 key players out injured -and they played very defensively - something they cant do - they attack , its the Ajax way. They sat back and let Real come at them, wave after wave, and you cant do that at the Santiago Bernabau! Tonight will be very different. Ajax have their best 11 available, and very importantly they have striker and talisman Suarez back, he has a hand in everything they do and was sorely missed at Madrid. Ajax have dominated every game they`ve played this season possession wise, bar that madrid debacle (according to the dutch forums) and after losing that game and needing 3 points tonight, they`ll revert to type and try to press Milan back, a type of game Milan arent used to, theyre used to playing teams with 11 men behind the ball, and they struggle when not given time on the ball. They drew 2-2 away at Twente at the weeked 2-2, a team who managed a 2-2 against Inter Milan in the last batch of games - now I know collateral form doesnt work 100%, but Twente arent as good as Ajax and AC arent as good as Inter, so with Ajax being at home, they have to be the favs to take the 3 points here. Also with Milan winning their 1st game against a very poor Auxerre team , they`d happily take a draw here, and that will affect the way they look at the game. They have looked very laboured in the domestic campaign so far , losing at home to Cesena, drawing at Lazio, and drawing at home to Catania, teams all inferior to Ajax imvho. They beat a woeful out of sorts Genoa 1-0 at the weekend, that being their 1st clean sheet in 5 games. They arent the Milan of old, and will surely concede here. They miss Pato, and Ronhaldhino and Pirlo look set to start on the bench and will only come in if they go behind, Ronny doesnt do defending and Pirlo isnt as quick as he was and also doesnt do defending nowadays - they are going just for attackjing quality they COULD bring to the team if needed. I think both teams could score, and I fancy Ajax to win this game - not overly strongly, but the 6/4 is too big and they should really be nearer evs imvho. Ajax to beat AC Milan @ 6/4 (Coral) ![]() |

Quote:
I've gone for over 2.25 goals in the Partizan-Arsenal game, based on the err..generous defending I have witnessed from both sides and the attacking intent that is also likely to be evident. Partizan are only likely to pick points up at home, they are not a good side particuarly but they have replaced the clown they had in goal for the games against Anderlecht, he had one of the worst goalkeeping displays i've ever seen in the second leg and nearly cost them a CL place. They have a couple of decent attackers and I certainly expect them to score tonight (esp with Fabianski between the sticks) although it will be interesting to see how they react to the likely possession dominance Arsenal are going to have, Arsenal are likely to score at least once against what is a half decent back line but not anything special, they will be pissed about the weekend and will take a draw prob but I expect them to win by at least one, they have far more quality in short. 1.71 at betchronicle is good enough for me. |

Re: Champions League 28-29th Sep
Yeah thats my fear Hast, attacking too much and getting caught, its when AC do best against those teams, and they dont get much opportunity to play that way in SerieA as the majority just sit back and counter against AC. The AC team isnt getting any better though, hasnt been for quite some time, and this Ajax team do score goals - theyve improved greatly over the last 2 seasons, and though not the Ajax of old, theyre certainly getting better. Theyve taken over as the top dutch team now I think, and no one will enjoy going to the Amsterdam Arena, whoever they are. Theyre full of confidence and their opponents clearly are not- that could be key in this game. I just hpe its not a repeat of last year when AC went to a french team, cant recall the team, Marseille I think ?? And Marseille absolutley mullered Milan, I mean posts, bars, 1 handed saves , the works, and that twat inzhagi nicked 1 on the break, then Heinze equalised and they were well on top , and then somehow, jesus himself only knows how, they broke away again near the end and inzhagi scored again ! It was a travesty of justice and if im to lose tonight I hope AC deserve to win and dont do 1 of these performances

Re: Valencia vs Manchester United.
Ive felt like that Tyke for about 7 years mate , keep getting results though dont they ! Couldnt touch the game. The 4-0 at Bursaspor was greatly flattering I feel, as Bursa are a very good team ,but they are used to getting 1-0 ahead and the sitting back and countering - they went behind against Valencia, and didnt know what to do - inexpericence cost them dear imvho and if they had gone 1-0 up they may well have won. Valencia are ok, but thats about it.
Bursa will beat Rangers tonight IF they get the 1st goal, thats pivotal. Rangers are very ordinary and Bursa I still believe to be a very decent team |

Re: Valencia vs Manchester United.
I'd say they were pretty fucking far from 'Ok' mate.
(Sorry, I had to throw my Pulp Fiction stint into there hehe). No, but seriously, unbeaten in 16 matches at home and unbeaten in all competitions so far this season and currently sitting atop the Primera Liga. I feel there could be somewhat of a mini-revolution on the way at Valencia. They've got some hot young prospects coming through and blended with some of the older heads, could do well this year in all competitions. I still they will be outclassed by Barca and Real in the domestic and won't go all the way this year, but they will cause some surprises I feel. If Valencia, so far are just OK, then I'm sorry, but United are well below OK. Manchester United SHOULD be top of the Premier League at this point. They've contrived to throw away just about every game they've played. Fulham, Bolton, Liverpool, Everton. Games they should be winning with consumate ease and professionalism. Rooney has done nothing and won't play anyway so I'm not quite sure why I mentioned him, ahem. Valencia for me. Cheers, ST |

Re: Champions League 28-29th Sep
Yeah my bad Tyke ,sorry , not seen much La Liga recently tbhc and didnt realise they were top, but to be fair Barca and Real arent playing well are they. And I agree ,Utd arent are well below ok. I see where your coming from, but I couldnt have Valencia! Hope they win for you though as your reasoning is sound

Re: Champions League 28-29th Sep
Having said that, Ajax 1-0 , Suarez and Hamdani look really really good and the red & whites are passing Milan to sleep. Milan have had a breakaway once or twice though and I feel Ajax need another to settle it. The crowds noisy as fuck

Re: Champions League 28-29th Sep
Hi people. Haven't posted on here for a long time but have kept looking at your thoughts on football. I've put a small accy together and wondered if anybody had any thoughts on it. I've plumped for Valencia, Inter Milan, Barcelona and Buraspor all to win. Valencia have had a storming start to the season whereas Man Utd, as we all know have been up and down. Rooney's inconsistency and now injury is a loss. The bloke thrives on the big European games. Inter Milan have surprised me so far in Serie A, sitting top of the table and looking fearless. A somewhat mediocre mid-table Werder Breman may struggle in the San Siro. Barcelona, with a fit again Messi could knock more past Rubin Kazan then the five they did against Panathinaikos two weeks ago. And Buraspor, who have stunned many a people by storming to the top of the Turkish league look just too strong for Rangers. As another post said yesterday, Scottish teams just don't have the skill to challenge other European clubs. So that's my accy. £10 returns £254.

Re: Champions League 28-29th Sep
Good luck Stellaowl. Worth bearing in mind though that Messi is only on the bench tonight, and don't forget Barcelona (with a fully fit Messi starting in both games) failed to beat Rubin twice last season, losing 2-1 at home and drawing 0-0 away. I know nothing of Rubin though or how they're doing this season, don't know whether they're any stronger or weaker than last season, but after last season's two meetings, they'll no doubt fancy their chances here.
