Zenit v AEK Athens

Zenit were mighty disappointed not to be in the CL this season losing out narrowly to Auxerre over two legs, they are very strong at home anyway and won the first game in EL 1-3 at Anderlecht where the always prolific Kerzhakov grabbed a hattrick before half time, he also got a hat-trick in the weekend 6-1 demolishing of Saturn and got a hat-trick the last time these two clubs met also! He is 2.2 anytime with bet365 which is too high for me..
Zenit like previous years spend money when it is needed and have a good side with Danny and Bystrov the creative players in midfield and Bruno Alves at the back, they are top of the Russian League and have only been beaten once at home over the last couple of years, the price reflects their tag as strong favourites but we'll get to that in a min..
AEK are in a bit of a crisis I actually had a bet on them on Sunday against Olympiakos Volos after reading they had been unlucky in previous games but they were hopeless against a recently promoted side that has eyes only on survival and lost 3-1, the coach left after the game (not before the fans had thrown a broken chair and bricks amongst other things at him after the game!) they lie fourth bottom of the league and although they won at home 3-1 against H.Split in the first game there is little comparison between Split and Zenit and indeed between AEK's home and away form..as most would expect they are reasonably strong at home but fairly poor away, they are also missing a couple of players for this game through injury, as far as I know Zenit are at full strength..

The odds are poor and no surprise given the above, best 1.3 I am happy to take the 1.6 available for the -1,-1.5AH, despite the evidence to the contrary I don't think they will run away with this by too many quite a lot of Zenit's victories are by 1 to 2 goal margins but I suspect AEK will be in fairly poor frame of mind heading into the game, I am tempted by the 1.9 for HT/FT as Zenit score a lot in the first half of games but I'm never confident taking this bet as it puts a lot of pressure on and I expect AEK to park the bus to be honest, it might be a case of when Zenit can break them down not saying this won't happen in the first half but I prefer to go on the side of caution..

Bloody Kerzhakov didn't even come off the bench! Which I guess was lucky as I get the stake back..nothing on the 8pm's for me nothing really appealed, Leverkusen have been missing a couple of those players for a while now and still been knocking them in so think the bookies priced them up about right, was going to go for 'both to score' but missed the best price in the end and couldn't be bothered after that, thats enough for me today, good luck in the second half gentlemen, and to Yorkie too!
