Re: Uefa Cup (Dec 19-20)
Bayern Munich v Aris
Final round of the group stage and it's all on the line at this group as Bayern Munich, Braga, Bolton and Aris are fighting for the first 3 places and qualification. It really should not have come down to this for my team Aris and before the first game, I was calculating that 5 points at the end will probably lead to qualification. However it probably will not. The reason for this is that few people were expecting Bayern to draw two of their three first games and also that Red Star might finish without any points. Nevertheless it is like this and Aris has to fight for qualification in a game versus the strongest favorite in this year's uefa cup away from home. The difference in class is obvious between the two teams. However there is always hope in a football game and Aris will have to fight. This is the single most important game in their careers so far for the vast majority of the Aris' players and one should expect nothing less than 110%. The same goes for the 5000 Greek fans that will be at Allianz Arena tonight. On the other hand, the Germans are also motivated as it would be a disaster for them to fail. Can there be hope for Aris, given the quality difference between the teams? Imo there is hope. Bayern are not flying at the moment and they have difficulty scoring goals, which would sound strange at the beginning of the season. At the uefa cup, they failed to win against Bolton and Braga already and they nicked a win at Belgrade only 5 minutes before the end so it is fair to say that they have not outplayed anyone in the group so far. If they are below average tonight and Aris has more than his fair share of luck, Aris could find a way to stay in the game. If Aris can keep a clean sheet (or score a goal) and are drawing during the second half, everything is possible. In that case Bayern Munich should start to think that a draw is enough (it actually is for both teams) and may risk far fewer things in the later stages of the game. Imo this is a possible scenario. Of course an easy Bayern win is another one and I would not argue with anyone that thinks that it is the most probable one. Toni is back for Bayern, which is not great news from an Aris' point of view. Stress and anxiety should be on Bayern rather than my team. The Germans are underperforming lately and have underperformed in this uefa group as well. Aris on the other side had a fantastic ride for their standards in uefa cup so far. Disqualifiyng Zaragoza was the important point (financially) but at the group stage, in the pitch, 1 win and 2 draws in 3 games is a respectful result by any standards. No shame if they are disqualified tonight. Braga v Red Star Well I am hoping that the Serbs can hold the Portuguese in this one so my team can qualify even with a defeat at Munich, but Braga are the strong favourites. Few expected that Red Star would lose all three first games for the group. They were unlucky against Bayern losing at the end, they conceded 3 against Aris even if they were at 0-0 with 15 minutes to go and they lost by the odd goal against an understrengthened Bolton. Red Star is a decent team but they seem to have some problems up front (generally) and goals do not come easily. They will also miss some players for this one and some of the reserve players will have a go. This is not a decision in order to rest players but mostly having to do will slight injuries as the Serbian championship is interrupted I believe and this will be their last game for some time. Braga is in good shape, team looks ok and they need the 3 points to qualify. If the game at Munich ends as a draw, they may need a two goal difference but they probably think that Bayern will do it so they will be looking for a simple win. I hope they don't win but they probably will. |

Re: Uefa Cup (Dec 19-20)
Soccer - 514 Aalborg +325 for Game
Soccer - Draw (Hapoel Tel Aviv vs Aalborg) +245 for Game Soccer - 520 Spartak Moscow +160 for Game Soccer - Draw (Toulouse vs Spartak Moscow) +215 for Game Soccer - 522 Zurich +180 for Game Soccer - Draw (Zurich vs Leverkusen) +215 for Game Amounts for all three games are 1 unit for the win, 1/2 unit for the draw. In the first game, Tel Aviv advance with a win and if Anderlecht loses at Getafe. Getafe would like to win because they would win the group in that case, but they advance with a draw as well, a situation that would knock Tel Aviv out regardless of their result. Aalborg have nothing to play for, having finished last...and yet they have played with a nothing to lose attitude that has had them in all their games. Tel Aviv is dead last in its league with a 1-3-9 record, and even though Aalborg's season ended a while ago, they finished first in a competitive league. Good odds for a possible upset. Spartak Moscow travel to Toulouse having already advanced and sitting at the top of Group E. Toulouse have zero points. Moscow have more motivation to win the group than Toulouse have motivation to gain something from UEFA... this is really a bet for value on the team that actually has something to gain even if they'll play some part-timers. Zurich and Bayer Leverkusen sit one point behind Spartak, and both have advanced. If Spartak wins, it is better for both these teams to lose (Zurich holds a one-goal advantage in the tiebeaker). If Spartak loses or draws, this game determines who finishes at the top of the group. Now, the games go on simultaneously, so it's not like teams can plan out what to do in advance. But see what happens if Spartak jump out ahead... As for these two teams, Zurich have the home field and have a full squad to choose from, while Leverkusen left many regulars at home...reports indicate they don't care as much as the Swiss. BOL all |

Re: Uefa Cup (Dec 19-20)
I used to be a big layer of Toulouse recently. But I don't feel so today.
The team looks to be gathering and scored some good results. Today they face Spartak Moskow in a game for nothing. Toulouse without Elmander. Spartak already qualified and 1st in the group. No games in the Russian league for several months. Despite missing Elmander I can see the french team winning tonight and at price over 3/2 I'm brave to take home win with medium-high stakes - 6/10. Spartak's players will have a nice shopping trip to France and would like the game just to end and wait for their opponent in the 1/16 finals. If I find Toulouse (0) @evens and higher I'll lump more... And another one: Panionios to win 1:0 against Bordeaux @7.20 - 4/10 |

Re: Uefa Cup (Dec 19-20)
After my Leverkusen and Bordeaux triumph last night was slightly miffed Spartak didnt do the right thing but hey thats life. So onto tonight and ties that have caught the eye value wise ;
Copenhagen away at Aberdeen, surely Aberdeen are going to have to come forward in this one and Copenhagen have enough about them to dispose of the Dons. Any Scots fans got any views on this ?? Other than that i expect Ath Madrid, Fiorentina, Hamburg, Nurnberg to win but the prices dont appeal. Cant see Everton winning in Holland tonight but maybe sneak a draw and might double that with a draw in the AEK Villareal game. What we all thinking people ?? |

Re: Uefa Cup (Dec 19-20)
Az's home record in the UEFA cup is superb and I think everyone thought that Moyes would put out a team of youngsters etc, but looking at the predicted line up for tonight Everton still look strong even though there will be no Arteta, Cahill, Yakubu, Howard etc etc
Personally fancy the draw here so I can see why people are jumping into the HC market. |
