Re: Uefa Cup 5/6 Dec

Everton v Zenit
Everton top the group with two wins out of two, but Zenit are also unbeaten with a win and two draws. Everton know that three points will take them through, but if AZ beat Nurnberg then both teams should qualify whatever the result here. Although Zenit are the Russian Champions, their teams have not performed well in Europe and I expect Everton to get their third win here

Villareal v Elfsborg

Villareal should ensure their place in the knockout stages with a win against a very disappointing Elsborg, who have already conceded ten goals in their first three matches and now have no chance to progress. Although lying in third in La Liga, Villareal have had a couple of disappointing results and will want to get back to winning ways here as a confidence booster. I can’t see them having a problem

Dinamo Zagreb v Hamburger
]Hamburg are certain to go through and will expect to keep their 100% record against the Croatians. But don’t expect Zagreb to be easy opponents. They drew 0-0 with Basel in their first game and were unlucky in losing 2-1 to Brann in Norway after they were down to ten men for the whole of the second half. In their domestic table they are 15 points clear after just 18 games, having lost just once all season. I expect them to put up a real fight on their home territory.

Crvena Zvezda v Bolton
After the scintillating 2-2 draw in Munich, Bolton looked like certainties for the knockout phase, but they struggled to draw at home to Aris. Now they have got to win here to have a chance. Red Star have lost both their games so far, but I’m not too sure that Gary Megson is interested in this competition as he has enough on his plate trying to survive in the Premiership. If he plays the same team he put out against Aris then they could give Red Star an easy ride

AaB v Getafe
AaB may be bottom of the group with just one point but they still have every chance of making the next stage. If they beat Getafe, their last game is against Tel Aviv, who are also struggling at the moment. My money is on Aalborg going through

Re: Uefa Cup 5/6 Dec

Red Star v Bolton

Bolton have set the premiership as thier priority and that is clear. They did not use Anelka or Diouf in their games against Bayern and Aris (used as subs v Aris) and they may think that this is a game too many nowadays that they are trying to go up the table in the league.
By no means they will go to Belgrade to lose, but I see Red Star having the advantage here. Bolton need the win, a draw and they need a specific combination of results to get through a defeat and they are out. It will take an exceptional performance to win at Belgrade and I don't see it coming.

Aris v Braga

My team stood tall at Bolton the other day, had a great time there except of course for the 93rd minute equaliser. Still a draw v Braga will see Aris through if Bolton don't win at Belgrade. Team has two consecutive defeats for the league (lost to a late own goal against AEK on Sunday) but still, uefa cup is very important and should have a good game. Disadvantage will be tiredness as the players are not used to playing twice a week while a certain plus is the strength of their home ground were they have very good results in European competitions taking into consideration the level of the team.

Re: Uefa Cup 5/6 Dec

Thats strange Jimmy! I have put on that exact double just half an hour ago! (@ 3.61 by the way)
Panathanailkos are already through, after defeats by Aberdeen and Locomotiv last week. They are unbeaten at home in their last six European games and Popodopolos (is that right?) has already got 5 goals in this competition. All the Greek teams seem to be having a good year (so far anyway) while the Russians are not up to their usual standard. Panathaikos are yet to concede in their games against Copenhagen and Aberdeen, while Locomotiv have conceded 6 in their 3 games. Another favourable point for me is that the Russian team sacked their manager recently having only finished 7th in the domestic league.
With Everton playing the Russian champions i think it will be a bad night for the biggest country in Europe!

Re: Uefa Cup 5/6 Dec

Bolton stiker Nicolas Anelka will miss Thursday's Uefa Cup clash with Crvena Zvezda as manager Gary Megson has opted to leave six of his key players at home.
Anelka, Kevin Davies, Kevin Nolan, Andy O'Brien, Ricardo Gardner and Jussi Jaaskelainen have not made the trip to Serbia as they are rested ahead of the weekend's Premier League match against fellow strugglers Wigan

Re: Uefa Cup 5/6 Dec

Just as i thought. Megson has no interest in this. I am going to get on Red Star right now before the price starts dropping any further. Betsafe are giving me 2.20. That will do for me. And i'mgoing to use my winnings fromlast night and do a little double with Aab at 2.85.

Re: Uefa Cup 5/6 Dec

Good work last night now for tonight my only concern with Bolton is that they are hard b**tards to break down when Megson plays this sort of game.
Not sure of Red Stars quality these days ?? Maybe someone can inform us ??
Maybe unders a good bet and goal after 30 mins ??

Re: Uefa Cup 5/6 Dec

Red Star lost to Munich 3-2 at home before being masacred by Aris in Greece. Their manager resigned after that defeat and this is the new mans first game in charge, which is usually a boost. Red Star have never lost at home to an English side (5 wins 2 draws) Bolton have not won in their last 5 away games in Europe. Domestically Red Star are second and are still unbeaten after 14 games. Both teams are renowned for draws so maybe an unders bet and a lay on Bolton would be sensible. But i think Red Star have the motivation. They know a win here will set them up to qualify with a win in their last game against Braga. Bolton obviously have no interest or motivation, except for the reserves to impress the boss. It could be a draw but i like the home win and i'm sticking to it! Well i've already backed them so i have no choice!

Re: Uefa Cup 5/6 Dec

By the way jimmy, i did a double on the correct scores as well with Everton and Panathiniakos last night. I went for 2-0 & 2-0. If bloody Arteta hadn't missed that penalty.....................

Re: Uefa Cup 5/6 Dec

Stuff Tottenham i wouldn't back them with a bargepole, but yes they are ALWAYS an overs bet. Here is my banker of the day. As good as Red Star! And i do like backing Greek teams lately.
Aris v Braga
Aris need to win here to make sure they qualify before going away to the tournament favourites Bayern Munich. They beat Red Star easily enough at home and were desperately unlucky to concede an equaliser in the 93rd minute away at Bolton (by Giannokopoulos of all people!). That is the only goal they have conceded in the group stages. Braga could take their place in the knockouts if they win here after two 1-1 draws with Bolton and Bayern, coming from behind both times. Braga are no pushovers but Aris are a different team at home. They have not been beaten in European competition at home since the UEFA competition started in 1970, an amazing run of 17 games, and they have played much better teams than Braga in that time. The most telling one for me was the 1-0 defeat of Zaragoza in September of this year to put the quality Spanish side out on the away goals rule. That has persuaded me they can’t lose this. Domestically the only home defeat so far was to leaders and champions AEK 1-0, and they have only conceded four goals in all ten matches.
Braga are currently sixth in Portugal and have won only one away game, since then they have played 5 more 0-2-3, with a GD of 2-8, so they are not very good travellers.
I was very impressed with the way Aris attacked Bolton in England, playing fast and confident football. Netto especially was outstanding, and the linking up with Calvo, the goalscorer, was exceptional. Considering they are a very hard team to score against and the quality of the attack force. I just have to back the home team. Betsafe are giving me 2.05.That will do me!

Good right up Jose and I agree with everything you say, just worried about the draw as Braga seem quite stubborn opposition.

I am also (very slightly) worried about the draw so have been studying betsafes prices for a value bet. I have come upwith what seems supersafe to me.
Aris Thessaloniki - Braga
double chance
1X1.35
Red Star Belgrade - Bolton
Bet on this match LIVE
double chance
1X1.25
1.69

I'm thinking of lumping on it as i just CANNOT see Bolton or Braga winning, but i did a double chance acca yesterday with these on and the prices were 1.45 and 1.30, which works at 1.88. So i may just leave it with that.
The acca was 1X on six games.Everton, Panathiniakos and Basle yesterday And these two with Aalborg tonight. These twoare bankers but if Aalborg gets beat i'll be sick, so thats why i'm thinking of covering myself with this bet. What do you think?
