Re: Champions League 27-28 Nov

In the 1st match all the money was on Stuttgart and as we often do, we bet on Glasgow cos the prices were wrong and we duly won, albeit luckily. As I stated it was a lucky win for Rangers, Stuttgart were better and controlled most of the game. Once again the bookies are writing short prices for the teams who have got something to play for (see England yesterday) and therefore odds of 2.4 on Stuttgart are very tasty. Stuttgart have imroved dramatically in the Bundesliga, culminating in a thrashing of Bayern München, now that a lot of the injured kay players are back. Of course they will be playing for pride only here, but I'm sure they will want to quit the competition with their heads held high, millions watching on the tv. Naturally it is too early for team news, but, Rangers price too short . Value bet here, no way are Rangers better than Stuttgart.

Stuttgart to win @ 2.4 by Canbet

Guys,

I've still got a £100 free bet from Paddy Power to give away over at my blog;
Selectabet

I heard Henry and Oleguer won't travel with Barca to Lyon. 7/4 on Lyon might be a good shout as I think Barca have done their hard work already in the group.

Interesting to hear more views on Stuttgart. I've notice they've picked up some form recently.

check it out :

Barcelona will miss Thierry Henry through injury for Tuesday's Champions League game away to French champions Olympique Lyon, from which the Spanish side need just a draw to make sure of reaching the knockout stages.

The France striker, suffering from back and groin pains, should be replaced by promising teenage forward Bojan Krkic.

Brazil forward Ronaldinho is back in the Barcelona squad after pulling out of Saturday's Primera Liga match against Recreativo Huelva, which the side went on to win 3-0 in the Nou Camp.

The club said he had been suffering from excessive fatigue and that it had been a mutual decision between the player, medical team and coaching staff to rest him.

Captain and centre back Carles Puyol has recovered from a blow to the ribs that forced him to be substituted against Recreativo and was included along with France defender Lilian Thuram, who was left out on Saturday.

Lyon, needing a win to keep alive their hopes of making the last 16, might have to make do without Karim Benzema.

The France forward, who left the pitch on a stretcher in the second half of his side's 2-0 Ligue 1 win at Stade Rennes on Saturday, is nursing a bruised right thigh.
The 19-year-old, Ligue 1's top scorer with 11 goals, is doubtful according to the club's doctor but has not given up hope.

"It still hurts but I will do everything I can to play," Benzema told Reuters. "It's a big match and I want to be part of it."

Lyon are third in Group E, one point behind second-placed Rangers and four adrift of Barcelona, the unbeaten group leaders.

The French side, desperate to make an impact in Europe, had lost their two opening games but revived their hopes with back-to-back wins over German champions VfB Stuttgart.

Lyon now need victories over Barcelona and in Glasgow next month.

"Our fate is in our own hands but Barcelona are certainly not easy opponents," Lyon's Brazil midfielder Juninho told reporters.

"The important thing for us is to give it all we have, to enjoy ourselves and to thrill our fans

Olympique Lyon: 30-Remy Vercoutre; 20-Anthony Reveillere, 29-Sebastien Squillaci, 5-Mathieu Bodmer, 11-Fabio Grosso; 28-Jeremy Toulalan, 8-Juninho, 6-Kim Kallstrom, 14-Sidney Govou, 18-Hatem Ben Arfa; 10-Karim Benzema or 9-Fred.

Barcelona: 1-Victor Valdes; 11-Gianluca Zambrotta, 5-Carles Puyol or 4-Rafael Marquez, 3-Gabriel Milito, 22-Eric Abidal; 8-Andres Iniesta, 24-Yaya Toure, 6-Xavi; 10-Ronaldinho, 19-Lionel Messi, 27-Bojan Krkic

PREVIEW-Soccer-Worried Sevilla compete with Arsenal for top spot

Sevilla head into Tuesday's Champions League clash against group leaders Arsenal at the Sanchez Pizjuan (kickoff 1945 GMT) concerned by their inconsistency up front and lack of resilience at the back.
The Andalucians were left languishing in an unaccustomed lowly position in the table after slumping to a second defeat in a row when they went down 2-1 at home to Real Mallorca on Saturday despite dominating for most of the match.
Mallorca made the most of two defensive lapses to go 2-0 up at halftime and although Sevilla equalised through striker Frederic Kanoute at the start of the second period the islanders held on to clinch the win.
"The problem is a lack of concentration," said Sevilla boss Manolo Jimenez. "I've got the feeling that sides are scoring goals against us that shouldn't be going in. We have to kill off games while we've got the chance and be more alert at the back.
"But a change of competition will give us a chance to change focus and we've got the added incentive that we are competing to finish first in the group."
Arsenal, who top Group H by a point from Sevilla and have yet to concede a goal in Europe this season, overpowered the Andalucians 3-0 when they met at the Emirates stadium in September.
Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Kanoute, who returned to the side for the Mallorca match after a calf injury, is keen to get another shot against Arsene Wenger's team, however.
"I'm really looking forward to the game, it is a very special and important one for me, especially because it is against a former local rival," said the Mali international

They are going to make it very difficult for us to take first place off them but these are the sort of tense games that I love to play in."
Kanoute's Brazilian strike partner Luis Fabiano, who has scored 14 goals in all competitions, is doubtful because of an ankle injury but influential wing back Dani Alves will return after a two-match domestic suspension.
Arsenal, who moved three points clear at the top of the Premier League after a 2-0 win against a stubborn Wigan Athletic side, know that a victory will guarantee them first place in the group, having already sealed a last-16 spot.
Manager Arsene Wenger is likely to play several squad players, especially as their next three Premier League games are away from home, although he will not want to surrender his side's unbeaten record this season.
Alexandr Hleb, Robin van Persie and Abou Diaby will definitely be missing while Theo Walcott is doubtful after going off on a stretcher against Wigan with an ankle knock.
Cesc Fabregas could be on the bench after playing no part against Wigan while Brazilian-born Croatian Eduardo may get a run out up front.
Gilberto could come into contention as a holding midfielder.
Probable teams:

Sevilla: 1-Andres Palop; 6-Adriano Correia, 28-Federico Fazio, 3-Ivica Dragutinovic, 4-Daniel Alves; 7-Jesus Navas, 8-Christian Poulsen, 21-Seydou Keita, 11-Renato, 10-Luis Fabiano, 12-Frederic Kanoute

Arsenal: 24-Manuel Almunia; 22-Gael Clichy, 6-Philippe Senderos, 5-Kolo Toure, 31-Justin Hoyte; 7-Tomas Rosicky, 19-Gilberto, 8-Lassana Diarra, 15-Denilson; 26-Nicklas Bendtner, 9-Eduardo

Re: Champions League 27-28 Nov

Man - sorry, but I dont see much sense in this...

1) Barca can even lose in Lyon and draw at home with Stuttgart and they are already IN...
2) I am pretty sure they will more focus on their home match against Stuttgart.
3) They are terrible away, yes, I say terrible - even in the league (even worse)
4) They need to focus on the league now and not risk any big squad blows where its not necessary.

For to bet on Barca against Lyon who desperately needs points is just going against a wall...

I really like some of your picks and respect your work - and thus I dont understand your childish "Barca all the way!" shouting before the match which disgraces what you 've built here before... even if the match goes the way you say..

Re: Champions League 27-28 Nov

What about Arsenal folks? 4.00 for a team that doesnt know how to lose? I don't know much and i know Arsenal have been poor on their travels in other Champions leagues but that price struck me as being rather large.

I wouldnt like to guess at Rangers chances in Germany. What about celtic anyone? Theyre good at home are they not in this although ive a feeling that other team have beaten them most games lately. Celtic are 1.95 at Pinnacle

Chelsea -1@2.17 Expekt

Rosenborg finished his league some week ago so them can aren't in good form and haven't played a good football this year, at Stanford Bridge they were lucky a lot.
Also i can think Chelsea with a point go next round if Shalke no win, but i want think blues win this match because there is a big difference between teams and asian -1 is high odd!!!

Double@2.32 Expekt
Liverpool + Chelsea
Reds must win the match no other possibility for them.

Re: Champions League 27-28 Nov

liverpool @1.55?

must be a joke

guys porto is great team, not only that, class above liverpool i should say

i wathched them last night against setubal, porto played with maximum power only 15-20 minutes at the begining of second half, rest of the match was a klinda cat versus mouse, very technical team, excellent in all aspects of game

1.55 for liverpool, is for aliens only,or those they dont have any idea what european soccer is

draw or away is my call,it will be a huge surprise for me, if liverpool wins

some people like to speak about value in prices,well i will put it on this way;

1.55 value estimation=ZERO

rest of games

i agree on stutgart, is the best bet of the day

scots are extremely poor, clearly not a champions league level, they shocked me once against lyon, but is not every day a miracle day

lyon to beat barca, excellent choice, barca looks in a mess lately, lyon has the team to reach the final in my eyes

have a nice betting week all

see you around

Re: Champions League 27-28 Nov

from Arsenal.com

Arsène Wenger has rotated his squad for the Champions League trip to Sevilla - but one change has been forced on the Arsenal manager.
Gael Clichy will miss the Group H clash after suffering a thigh injury during Saturday's 2-0 win against Wigan. The French left back is expected to be fit to face Aston Villa at the weekend but his place is expected to go to Justin Hoyte or Armand Traore in Spain.
Emmanuel Adebayor and William Gallas are also omitted from Arsenal's 18-man squad as Wenger takes the opportunity to rest players amid a hectic run of 12 games in just under six weeks.
Cesc Fabregas, Gilberto and Mathieu Flamini have travelled after missing the Wigan game but the latter is still short of full fitness after a thigh injury. However, one player who will start against Sevilla is Nicklas Bendtner.
"We leave out William Gallas and Emmanuel Adebayor while Gael Clichy is injured," said Wenger. "I would have taken Clichy but he has a thigh problem, however he should recover for the weekend.
"Mathieu Flamini will travel. I wanted to start him but we do not have good indications from training today. We will see tomorrow.
"Nicklas Bendtner will start - I want to give him a chance."
Arsenal squad
1. Jens Lehmann
3. Bacary Sagna
4. Cesc Fabregas
5. Kolo Toure
6. Philippe Senderos
7. Tomas Rosicky
8. Lassana Diarra
9. Eduardo
15. Denilson
16. Mathieu Flamini
17. Alex Song
19. Gilberto
24. Manuel Almunia
26. Nicklas Bendtner
27. Emmanuel Eboue
30. Armand Traore
31. Justin Hoyte
32. Theo Walcott

Lyon v Barca preview

Lyon host Barcelona knowing that a defeat could see them eliminated from the Champions League.
The French champions have been regulars in the knockouts stages, but they are picking up the pieces after losing their first two games.
Successive wins over Stuttgart have revived their hopes and they will be been to carry the momentum forward against Barca.
Barca have plenty to play for as a point will take them into the last 16, while victory will secure top spot, and their record against Lyon is superb, as they have won all three of their meetings.
Barcelona will be without Thierry Henry after he reported discomfort in his back during the weekend win over Recreativo.
Eidur Gudjohnsen could well lead the line, but coach Frank Rijkaard may opt for rising star Bojan, as Samuel Eto’o is not yet fit to return
Lilian Thuram is back in the fold after being rested at the weekend and Carles Puyol is expected to shake off a minor injury but Oleguer misses out with a hamstring problem.
Lyon boss Alain Perrin has problems of his own, as Milan Baros is definitely out while Karim Benzema is struggling with a muscle strain.
Brazilian striker Fred is standing by to replace Benzema, but goalkeeper Gregory Coupet and centre back Cris are long-term absentees

Barcelona, who need only a draw to ensure their progress, will be without injured striker Thierry Henry but have a pretty decent replacement in the shape of Ronaldinho, who missed Saturday's 3-0 league win over Recreativo Huelva

note: Karim Benzema is france Ligue 1's top scorer with 11 goals.
