Re: UEFA Cup 8th Nov
Don't like this competition....lack of motivation also supported by fielding the mixed squads leads to many unexpected results, so the best choice for me is to follow higher odds for lower stakes.
This round brings only a couple potential interesting matches for betting ( for me..). Aris-Red Star Offered @ 1,90 for HW ...hmm, not bad. I need some help from Greek punters regards Aris motivation to proceed in UEFA competition, probably squad.... Until I found something more about Greeks, there's a couple of words about Red Star. They didn'r reached any form so far and heavily struggling even in low quality domestic championship. Red Star won only one from last three matches, narrowly 1-0 in Belgrade, while other two finished in 1-1 both draws, against rather weak than mediocre teams. Game vs. Bayern in Belgrade was the only one where Red Star showed something more, but I must say that Bayern approach was in a way, strange one, since they played with no motivation at all, without Tony, Ribbery, De Michelis, Khan....and manage to score three goals, from almost every half-goal-opportunity they created. So, Red Star defense is vulnerable and I can't imagine that they will not receive a couple of goals in Greece, but again, I don't know much/nothing about Aris capability to score and make a constant pressure. Thinking about Larissa since Zenit must concentrate on last league game and long awaiting title, so motivation must be strongly at home side which showed some good games vs. strong Blackburn. |

Re: UEFA Cup 8th Nov
ARIS V RED STAR
I am not gonna predict any outcome for this one as I am an Aris fan all my life and my subjectivity is questionable. I am gonna provide some info though. Aris' team has changed dramatically over the last one and a half year. From the team that managed a late goal to secure its promotion from the greek division 2 only a couple of players have survived the drastical changes. Team looks like this (this is how I would expect they start the game on Thursday althouth tactical surprises may not be excluded as I will explain). Goalkeeper is Greek NT Halkias (played in the last game Turkey v Greece). 4 in defence. Right back the Brazilian Neto, ex Santos, Left back Albanian NT Vangeli (replacing injured Brazilian Marco Aurelio), central defenders Brazilian Ronaldo Giaro and Avraam Papadopoulos who look so far as one of the strong points of the team. Central midfielders, Greek captain Nebegleras and Bolivian NT Nacho Garcia. On the wings, two Spanish players, Francisco Peral "Javito" and Tony Calvo. Serb Vladan Ivic as a creative midfielder and Spaniard Koke up front on a 4-2-3-1 initial formation with variants according to the run of play. The team has started this year well enough, unbeaten in seven in the Greek championship, their most important moment being without doubt, kicking Zaragoza out of the uefa cup on away goals (1-0 @ Thessaloniki, 1-2 @ Zaragoza). Good news about the team is they look well organised at times and defencively there hasn't been too many errors. Bad news it that the team is not flowing at the offensive part and due to that has drawn 4 of its 7 games in the league (three of them being 0-0 draws). Overall has scored just 6 goals in 7 games (3 of them being against Paok at the bog local derby) and has conceded just 2. A problem concerning the team during this metamorphosis over the past one and a half year has been the coach. They started with virtually unknown Argentinian Guillermo Ollos who was coaching at Barca's academy. They changed after six months to Spanish Hernandez. Then after the end of the season they again changed coach bringing in another Spaniard Oliva. Finally they changed Oliva to a man that has a well established name in Greek football, Serb Dusan Bajevic who is, at last, expected to bring some kind of stability benchwise. The funny thing is that Bajevic was recently coaching Red Star wo he probably knows quite a lot about the team and that is why there may be some changes in the Aris team, if the trainer decides that tactically it would give him an edge. Motivation could not be higher as Aris has had some tough times in the recent past and doing well in Europe will be a definite lift for the club. So surely the team and everybody around it consider this game of huge importance. 'Hope that helps. GL with your bets. I'll post my choices (if any) closer to the games. |

Re: UEFA Cup 8th Nov
I am unaware as to whether he posesses the prementioned qualities milorad.
What I am aware of, is that similar posts do not add anything and should be strictly avoided, especially at the TDP. There are plenty of fan forums to argue about the indisputable qualities of Red Star or any other team. This is a betting forum. Similar posts as well as picks without explanation should be avoided. That was a mediocre start to the forum milorad so my welcome to the tdp will contain less enthusiasm. Hope you do stay around and talk some football though. |

Re: UEFA Cup 8th Nov
Soccer - Rennes/Brann Bergen - total Over 2½ (-108)
for the regulation time held on Nov 8 at 1:00pm [pending] Soccer - Dynamo Zagreb/Basel - total Over 2½ (-111) for the regulation time held on Nov 8 at 2:15pm [pending] I am shocked that Rennes is a -1 favorite in its game; I think Brann will come out roaring in this game. Beyond that, as I have said before the French teams at home in the UEFA Cup have played to overwhelmingly overs, and Brann has a very powerful attack as well as a tendency to leak goals as it presses forward. Basel and Dynamo are two high-scoring teams that defend okay in their respective leagues, but here will both likely play open. The odds on offer are more than generous for a game that should see both teams score. |

Re: UEFA Cup 8th Nov
A few words for the Larissa v Zenit game.
Larissa is not doing well at the Greek championship at the moment. Moreover they are not playing at home as they play their european matches at Volos, which is nearby but not friendly enough so a packed house is not expected today. Larissa did manage a clear win against Blackburn in the previous round and they were not that bad, despite defeat, at Everton at the first group stage game. Influential defender and captain of the team Dabizas was subsistituted at the last greek game because of a slight injury but he will probably play in this one. Loads of speculation concerning Zenit. They play a do or die game on Saturday for the Russian championship away at Saturn. If they win, they are champions as it's the last game of the season. So the first though is that they would probably spare some players for that game. However, local bookies have come out with really low odds (and low money accepted also) for their final game so there is some speculation about that game. If somehow they know they will win on Saturday, whatever the case, then I would say that they might win against Larissa also as, they are at least one step ahead qualitywise. Too many unknown factors for this one, tough one to call. I will keep on looking for some information regarding Zenit's line-up (as Larissa'a is more or less known already) and I may have a small bet before kick off. |

Re: UEFA Cup 8th Nov
Spurs should have too much for Hapoel. Terrible run at the Premiership, so Europe is a way-out (together with the cup competitions) for Spurs who, if I am not mistaken, were very optimistic and ambitious before the season started. They need the win after the home defeat against Getafe at the first game and if they perform at decent level, they should beat Hapoel who is totally out of form, winless in the first 8 games of the local championship, being last at the standings with just 3 points.
Unfortunately odds are low and have drifted signiffically since they came out. |

Toulouse - Sparta Praha
Toulouse is not in good form in french league and they have really big problems with scoring. Sparta won last three games with total score 11:1 and i can say they are back in form, moreover they need everypoint now, after their defeat at home with Zurich last UEFA cup game. Value on Sparta side for me. Sparta +0,5 @2 Bet365 2/10 Sparta @5 Betfair 1/10 |

Re: UEFA Cup 8th Nov
Just a word of caution to anyone thinking of betting on Aris - Red Star: There was already a number of incidents involving fans of Aris and Red Star, yesterday evening two people were severely injured, today another incident, three Red Star fans attacked and stabbed. About 15 buses with Red Star supporters are still being held on Greece border, so you can expect a very very hot atmosphere... I wouldn't even be surprised if the game is postponed, or worse - stopped because of the riots..
