Re: Champion league 06 Nov

I'll get this thread started then...

I was in Lisbon for the Benfica v Celtic match a fortnight ago and thought that if Celtic took the game to them they would have won over there. As it was Strachan went with one up front and whilst McGeady tried to support Killen there just weren't enough numbers getting forward. I think a more positive Celtic side will beat Benfica on Tuesday. Celtic's contrasting home and away records in the CL are well documented and this should be another home win. I think Benfica lost last midweek in the cup too (to Setubal?) and judging by the home crowd a few weeks ago they're not doing too well.

The evens available now won't be by kick-off.

Re: Champion league 06-07th Nov

I'm not a great fan of european competitions from a betting point of view, at least not until the latter stages. It's nigh on impossible to judge how teams will fare against teams that they aren't playing against regularly. Teams are priced up largely on reputation and their latest performances in their own leagues which is a recipe for upsets.

That said, it would be difficult to argue against victories for Liverpool and Barca this week and the shite prices reflect that. I'm not a fan of odds on betting but with both teams at home, and at a combine price of over 1/2, I'd be tempted to take the double (though not for big money).

Schalke 04 need a result here their bottom,I think they just might play into the hands of Chelsea,a draw would be no good to Schalke as that would leave them 4 points behind Chelsea and should Valencia beat Rosenberg it would leave them 3 points behind the spanish side and then they would have to beat the spanish side away to keep their hopes alive.

Im thinking
Single on Chelsea
Double result - Draw - Draw and Draw - Chelsea

I agree that Celtic is the best bet of Tuesday's matches. Celtic are very strong at home having beaten Milan earlier, plus Manchester last season as well as Benfica 3-0. Also, Benfica's bester striker Nuno Gomes is not 100%. Celtic -1/4 should be safe.

Shaktar +0.5 v Milan
Shaktar is another tough place to play, much like Celtic. Milan's form is not the best, and with both sides even at the top of the group, a draw would suit them both. Ronaldo is named to the lineup, which shows Milan's desperation and the shape of their current situation. Shakhtar is the more likely to win the match.

Re: Champion league 06-07th Nov

valencia home win

shachtar draw or away ( simply milan are the defending champions, very experienced team, and truly class above ukrainians as i noticed in the previous match)

chelsea win, this is the bet of the day, here are my criteria to support this
pick :

1. huge distance between bundesliga1 and premier league....

2. chelsea in top form, while schalke looks very bad lately, lost even to cottbus....

3. "value" price @2.25, if i accept theories of value in betting, for me, there is no such a thing like value, still i would take this one even @1.80

have a nice evening

Re: Champion league 06-07th Nov

olympiakos vs real under 2.5 goals

porto vs marseille under 2.5 goals

in both mentioned games, draw is probable outcome

i think four teams will be very satisfied to share points, and no attacking risks are expecting, but i will not place money, just an opinion

liverpool is very bad indeed, however, i cant compare marseille with besiktas, i think marseille is much better,

no bet for me, and this is coz liverpool and rafa benitez are in a big mess

besiktas something unknown to me, but in no case to place money on away win, this is like commit suicide action

Re: Champion league 06-07th Nov

Hey guys. I have a few interests for tonight as the prices are pretty good imo.

Celtic v Benfica

As mentioned by Selectabet Celtic on another day could have left Portugal with 3 points. Even changing their style and going that bit defensive they will had several decent chances to win that game.

At home its a whole different ball game with Celtic. They have one of the best home CL records in Europe easily and have picked up 3 points against the biggest names in the competition.

Nakamura missing tonight which is a blow as his set pieces and class can really serparate the side from winning and losing.

Hesslehink should partner McDonald upfront and this is a front pair which has the potential to work well although Hesslehink doesn't do it too much for me.

Celtic will go for the game tonight thats for sure and i expect a big game from McGeady. When you look at the current record of Celtic at home they are a pretty big price.

Celtic to win @ 2.16

Shakthar @ 3.80 has to be a value bet also. I can see Milan approaching this game pretty cautiously. Milan haven't been that strong in their domestic league so far and i can see them struggling with the pace of the Ukrainians attack.

Strong home side and that price is a value bet IMO.

Anyone got any info on Porto v Marseille. Surely the 8.00 available on Marseille is waaaaaay too big???

Cheers folks,

Kiko, I will follow you on Celtic tip, sounds reasonable to me. Always liked scots when playing home.

Also think that you Martens have right about Chelsea. Only worry is that Kuranyi is injured for Schalke and moron slomka can not play his favorised line with 3 forwards. But still think Chelsea is class better and odds are OK.

Again to you Kiko, Shaktar call sond good as well, just I will take Shaktar not to lose due to Milans great CL record.

GL folks with your bets tonite

Re: Champion league 06-07th Nov

Agree on Chelsea as they are beginning to hit some form where as Schalke are struggling.

Celtics home record speaks for itself and odds seem good enough although their record as to go sometime - but not tonight. Gomes will play but as he's not 100% think he wont cause too much damage. McDonald is firing on all cylinders but I may take McGeady as 1st goalscorer at tempting odds around 14/1 especially as bookies are offering 9/1 about Riordan.

Valencia should beat Rosenburg but odds are quite skinny.

Lads enhanced odds slip was Chelsea, Liverpool, Celtic, Madrid and Valencia and it just appealed to me so i've backed them all in an accie @ 12/1
