Who of these wannabees will challenge the old guard?
I see nothing here that might challenge let alone earn money.

Stab in the dark , guys.
Anyone with balls big enough to have a guess rather than just thrust the whole thing out into the market?

Smacks a pussy, says the wife.

Give it your best Komp, slick.

Re: To Win Champions League Groups

I´ll try to make a more constructive attempt at this:
to win group:
Liverpool
Chelsea
I think we might see a below par Valencia this season

Real Madrid
Can´t help feeling Werder are in transition and might a be a size too small this season though we´ve still to see what Lazio have got

AC Milan
Quality at this club seldom varies

Barcelona
Jury is still out on the Spaniards but I´ve seen both their league games and think they´re gelling nicely

Man U
Looks like a shoe in to me

Inter Milan

Not impressed by this side but I wasn´t last year either. More a case of wondering how they do it.

Seville
Coin toss here but Seville are stepping up from the UEFA cup and will do it seamlessly

No surprises here then which is a touch worrying!

Re: To Win Champions League Groups

just seen this thread and didnt see ure earlier replies Peter ya nowty bastard.

I'd be interested to see past stats as I'm sure every yr about quite a few of the group favs usually slip up along the way.

Anyhow as you want a reply I'll go through the groups and point out anything detremental that could happen to the favs.

Group A
Looks about right to me and i see no reason to oppose Liverpool as the other teams in there are passed their sell by dates and Liverpool look very strong this yr now they have strength in depth, so much so i wouldent be surprised to see them in the final again.

Group B.
Chelsea have not looked right to me for the last 18 months or so and recently there always seems to be some sort of trouble in the camp, at the moment thye are depending on their home form to get them out of trouble and Pompey showed a fortnignt ago even that record is due to go out of the window and a team with a bit more bite will soon roll them over at the bridge believe me.
Of that group only Valencia can oppose them on paper and i wouldent be suprised to see them do so on Chelseas current form.

Group C.
Real madrid won La liga last yr but then again about so could another 3 or 4 teams as it was that close even so a few of those players moved on this summer as they werent getting any younger.
Madrid aint the same team from a few yrs back as recent champs league comps have shown and it will take a few yrs yet if they buy right to become a major force in Europe again.
Saying that the group is not that strong but i would not be surprised to see one of the lesser teams i that group come out top as Madrid are no longer a team to fear.

Group D
What a group this is, Milan are worthy favourites as last yrs winners amongst a bevvy of English teams in the semi's and the way they destroyed Man United will endear them in my heart forever.
But again they are getting no younger and rock of that squad Nesta and Maldini will not go on forever, even Seedorf must be knocking on about now and Gattuso must be getting past his peak now and playing the way he does constantly puts himself @ risk of injury.

They do possess other great players mind at their peak with Kaka being the pick of the bunch.

The other teams in that group are no mugs and everyone of them could get a result at home and all it will need is for one of them to get a result In milan to throw the group wide open, Celtic will fight all day long, Benfica have the experience and Shaktar have invested heavily this yr in new players to improve their chances, the reason i know that is because i kept following the players Sven was supposedly after and Shaktar always seemed to beat him to it.

So imo this group is far from safe.

Group E
Barcelona were a huge let down last yr and could get back to something like if Henry can get back to his best, their problems seem to stem from players resting on their laurels after shining so bright in 2006 and just not looking fit in general.
They have the players to win this Comp at a cantor but if they play like they did last year then l can see lyon winning this group as they always seem to get of to a flyer in the qualifiers.

Group F
Man U have some serious problems at present and it seems to stem from not replacing Nistelroy, allthough they did hammer Roma last yr without him and i'd lay my house on Roma playing out of their skin this time around for a reverse.
Not that they will pull it off but on Uniteds current form i wouldent be surprised to see it, Ronaldo will be back by then mind and they have missed him immensly but it will take more than him to turn Uniteds season around even with the return of rooney.

I expect United to Win this group but i wouldent touch them at those odds as they have no leeway in the Prem to rest players like previous seasons between Euro Games.

Group G
One off my list as i expect Milan to win this group but PSV as ever could cause an upset as they seem to have a conveyor belt of never ending talent.

Group H.
Arsenal winners, even with their dodgey away record and No Henry, Arsenal are a young talented team and i see nobody opposing them from that group.

Fabregas and the like are starting to come of age and the last few yrs Euro experience should now start to serve them well.

Seville will be the main opponents here after last yrs UEFA cup success but there is a huge void between the quality of both competitions.

Cheers peter for the comments as i've now narrowed down my laying list to..

Chelsea
Madrid
Milan
Barcelona
Man U
