Re: Champions League Qualification: 24/25th July

Derry with a 3000 mile trip to FC Pyunik. After failing to take advantage in the 1st leg (0-O), this will be really difficult for them imo. Should they go through to the second qualifying round, their reward is another long journey, this time to the Ukraine, where heavyweights Shakhtar Donetsk await them. Somehow, it seems as though Derry have drawn the short straw. Certainly, if they are to repeat the European odyssey of last year, it will be against all the odds.

Anyone with any info on FC Pyunik??

Re: Champions League Qualification: 24/25th July

Early thoughts for two games:
Tampere - Murata
I've watched second half from the first game.
Tampere is nothing special, but I don think they will have problems at home.
Waiting for the odds for No Goal, cause I don't think this time Murata will score.
I don't know how much goals will score Tampere - only with long balls and physical strenght sometimes is hard to score many goals, but I hope if there's good odds for No Goal that Murata will not be able to score this time.

Ranger's - Sheriff
In the first game Rangers played only in defence, I think without a single attack. They made many fouls and recieved some yellow and 2 red cards.
Maybe if they try to show something different from antifootball it will be easy for moldovians to win. But odds is to low and the away team don't need to win to go ahead, so no bet.

Anyone with any info on FC Pyunik??
Hard one to call this. I saw most of the first leg on RTE. Pyunik set out there stall to defend for the whole game and held out fairly easily with Derry only really going close 2 or 3 times. Pyunik were delighted after the game with the result so they must really fancy themselves at home. The arrival of John Robertson has steadied the ship at Derry a bit so their league position is a bit false at the moment. Pyunik had something like 6 Armenian internationals from the side that played against Poland in their last international game which they won 1-0. No bet game for me, hard to judge if Pyunik or any good going forward or what sort of state Derry will be in after arriving over in that place. For anyone in the Republic of Ireland it is on RTE again and will be on the rte.ie id imagine. You might need some sort of proxy or something from outside though, i dont know anything about it myself. Watch out for the early kick off though.

Re: Champions League Qualification: 24/25th July

TNS preview from welsh-premier site , note that their opposition beat Blackpool

Quote:
THE New Saints' boss Ken McKenna hopes to make history on Wednesday night by becoming the first man to lead a Welsh Premier club to a two-legged Champions League victory, since Peter Nicholas guided Barry Town to a 3-0 aggregate win over FK Shamkir.
The TNS squad has arrived in Latvia ahead of Wednesday night's crucial Champions League first round second leg, and McKenna is quietly confident his side can get a positive result after winning the first leg 3-2 against FK Ventspils at Newtown's Latham Park last week.
"I hope for the sake of my players more than anything else that we can get a result, they've worked hard to get themselves into this position and deserve some reward," says McKenna.
The TNS squad is staying in Riga, the Latvian capital, as they bid to reach the second round for the first time in their history and set-up a tie with Red Bull Salzburg, whose manager Giovanni Trapattoni watched the first leg.
"TNS were hard fighters, it was a good game and they showed real fight, they have a good chance to win the rematch," said the former Italian national coach, one of only two men to have won domestic titles in four different countries.
Frontman Alfie Carter, who missed the first tie with a leg injury, was added to the TNS travelling party and is expected to be named on the bench, while former Southport keeper Paul Harrison will again deputise with the gloves for the injured Saints' skipper Gerard Doherty.
Meanwhile, Ventspils warmed-up for the tie by beating Blackpool 2-0 in a friendly on Saturday.

Re: Champions League Qualification: 24/25th July

Levadia T. – Pobeda

second leg. First leg ended with 0:1 win for Levadia.

Macedonian champion is not even the best team in Macedonian national league and they became champions because of buying matches in the finish of the season. They showed their quality in the first match against Levadia, team who is even below the average teams in this first round of qualifications for Champions League. Pobeda was, softly said, terrible. They could not pass well, they weren’t running at all, fighting spirit was way below the necessary, quality…I even do not want to speak about their quality.

Levadia was not much better in the first leg, but they played enough to beat poor Pobeda. The match was boring without many attacks and now I expect Levadia to control the match and keep the good result achieved in the first leg.

The odds on Levadia now are higher when they played away, which, honestly, I think that is wrong. Pobeda brought back Brazilian Zilson and loaned Goreski (ex-national team player) but still this players are not high quality enforcements and I think that Levadia will win again, probably in low scoring match, 1:0 or 2:0

Pick 1: Levadia; Odds: 1.73 @ SportingBet; Stake: 3 units
Pick 2: under 2.5 goals; Odds: 2.00 @ Cris; Stake: 2 units

I dont know what to say you jimmyt.
Lavada is public bet everywhere and it's blocked in my local bookies so I'll not bet on them and I can't find nothing special for big betting today.
I'll try on with few overs but all in all nothing good for me today

They are playing very nice last 3 years
Always HW.

Today I've combo Metalurg HW,Tirana HW, Levadia HW and few tennis.

Tirana was solid in first match against Domzale and imo they maybe have chance today to win at home. Also odds are dropping much on HW

Levadia won first match but like Igor5 said macedonian clubs are full suprices and nobody don't know how will they play. Still I have them also but only for low stake because I don't beleive in them

I hope that I help you jimmyt

Ventspils 1.33 Draw 4.00 TNS 9.00

Ventspils need a win , the reports from radio cymru indicate that McKenna's TNS will be going for a draw in this match ,they have included front runner Carter in their squad even though he was doubtful at the weekend , it was intimated that he would not have a full game and would come on in the second half ,when they will use his speed on the breakaway.TNS have been in Riga since Sunday , this is much more time than they've done on their previous european ventures.TNS will have reserve keeper Harrison playing in this leg , he also played in the first leg.
