Bayern Munich have been installed as favourites, and they look like they are going to add Ribery to their squad from Marsaille.Spanish side Getafe finished 8th in la liga, along with Barcelona they were the leagues tightest defences conceding only 30 goals, and scoring only 38 goals. One to watch maybe @odds of 33's.Alkmaar play some good stuff under Van Gaal. What about Fiorentina would have finished 3rd in the serie A but for their 15pt deduction.

Re: UEFA CUP 2007 early prices

With or without Ribery, Bayern do look like the best side, most respectable one, among above mentioned teams.
I believe that Germans will confirm their fighting spirit one more time and try to forget surprising absence from CL, by winning this cup.
On the other hand, we witnessed the different approach of well known teams, mostly from Italy, when games in this cup, no matter level or opponent, were clearly victimized for domestic leagues matches.
Also, the German teams didn't show anything in last Uefa Cup, so the offered price for Bayern to win the Cup, is far from any value (for me) since they'll be eager to get involved in next Bundesliga Title race rather than burn in Uefa Cup.

I already see announced squads from Italian sides (Fiore, Palermo, Empoli) before every match, without 6 or more first team players, dropping odds, removed games...it always happened, why not this year?
Italians simply don't care for this cup, and question is did they care for anything else but scudetto?

But Spaniards take it seriously, didn't they?
Results shows it.
Getafe is the only team from Spain qualified so far, and I can't see them as possible upset, but Zaragoza, Villareal or Atletico could take important role in this cup, and probably the winner?

Tottenham, Everton & Bolton..interesting prices !
As usually hard nuts to crack at Island, but away from home not convincing ones.
Everton could confirm their great season and go into the Competition with ambitions, depends on following market, as for every mentioned club.
Anyway, those @ 26 offered for Everton closes my list, since I can't see any of teams bellow as potential Cup winner (beside yet unknown contenders from Primera).

AZ (market ?) and Galatasaray (@ 51 ) also on a shortlist.

Re: UEFA CUP 2007 early prices

Hi Charley, im surprised the italian clubs dont show much interest in the uefa cup,its extra revenue, the only chance they have for european glory, for a couple of clubs like Palermo and Empoli who are starved of any success at home or abroad im surprised they just neglect the chance of success in the uefa cup.

Re: UEFA CUP 2007 early prices

I'd agree with Charly, I can't see Getafe challenging for this, in large part because their current manager Schuster is the favourite to be Real Madrid manager next season. Having said that, those rumours all started when Capello's position was looking untenable, but if he leads them to the title, he could well end up staying. Even so, whoever their manager is, I don't think they're capable of challenging. Not sure I'd fancy Atletico Madrid either from the potential Spanish qualifiers, but Zaragoza would certainly stand a chance, and Villarreal would be worth looking at as a long shot, although I'd want at least the 33/1 that's already on offer for Getafe in order to be tempted on Villarreal.

Re: UEFA CUP 2007 early prices

Yeah i agree about avoiding the Italians as they just aren't interested in this competition no more.

This was proven in the group stages when we found Rangers and Newcastle winning in Livorno and Palermo with both Italian sides making many changes to their starting line ups.

I will be looking for Zaragoza for sure as a good bet here.

Aberdeen ONLY 67/1?

They should be at least 200/1 ha

EVERTON FTW

25/1 is a crap price though. Our last Uefa cup adventure in 2005 was a fcuking disaster, ive only just recovered

Re: UEFA CUP 2007 early prices

Aris Thessaloniki @ 101

I have said before the Greek championship started this year that the team I support in Greece, would be a strong candidate for the uefa cup even though they came from the second division. The did it, excellent stuff, finishing 4th but it would only be in my dreams that they could challenge for this one, I suppose. I good draw might see them to the group stages but going all the way is out of the question (although I have to admit Greece winning the European championship was also out of the question for me).

The same goes for the rest of the Greek clubs in the competition.
