Re: Champions League final 23th May

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes Liverpool have no chance of beating AC Milan in the Champions League final on 23 May.
Milan beat United in the semi-finals to set up a repeat of the 2005 final, which Liverpool won on penalties.

Ferguson told the Sun: "I'd bet for sure that Milan will win the Champions League. I'm absolutely certain of it.

"I told their manager Carlo Ancelotti at the end of our semi-final that there is no way he cannot win it now."

Ferguson plans to toast Milan's victory with a bottle of wine given to him by Ancelotti after his side had lost in Italy
Carlo gave me a magnificent bottle of wine," Ferguson added. "But I immediately told him I would only drink his wine once I see him lifting the Champions Cup."

The United boss admits his team were outclassed in the second leg of their semi-final, which Milan won 3-0.

But Ferguson believes his side were tired from their efforts in the Premiership the previous weekend, which helped United regain the title for the first time since 2003.

"Milan's second-leg victory over us was stupendous, fantastic and extraordinary," Ferguson said.

"But I know we paid a high price for the Premiership fightback which we needed at Everton to turn a 2-0 scoreline into a 4-2 victory.

"Last week, Milan were fresher and better prepared tactically and physically.

"I'm still trying to analyse the factors involved. But the truth remains we faced one of the best performances in the history of AC Milan."

Sir Alex try to gv sign which teams that we must put on our Dollar

Re: Champions League final 23th May

Milan look like they'll be lifting the cup for me,I have never ever seen a good United team taken apart as Milan did in the second leg and if they turn that on again in Athens then Liverpool will not know whats hit them,

1.80 with Paddy Power and if you are a new user(as I am )you'll get 3x10 pound free bets if you bet 30 pound, nice price don't think it will last betfair go 1.78 before comish.

Re: Champions League final 23th May

If Rafa Benitez has any sense he will stick this up on the dressing room wall:

United manager says he will toast Reds' defeat in Athens

Everyone tipped Milan in 2005 as well. So what. Everyone tipped Barca to beat us. Ronaldinho would rip us apart. Messi would make mincemeat out of us. Chelsea would crush us with Shevchenko slicing into the defence.

What do "they" know ?

I'm with AC Milan the way they trounced Man United. It was like a gladiatorial arena, red everywhere and a baying crowd. Hopefully they have the same support in Athens

Arogant Ferguson, they've beat us, so they will beat you for sure.
Shity attitude, but looks like Milan's oldies are big game players, can be motivated only for such a games. So i agree, Milan will be suckers if they will lose again vs Liverpool

Re: Champions League final AC Milan v Liverpool 23rd May

I would just love Liverpool to do it (my keegan impression) and bring home the Champs League but after the way Milan TOTALLY destroyed Man U i just don't think it will happen.

Milan will still be smarting from the way Liverpool came from 0-3 down a couple of yrs ago and will be determined not to see that happen again.

Milan looked the total side against United and never once looked like they were not in control of the game for long periods in the first leg and the full 90 in the second leg, they have experience in abundance which i thought would tire against a young fit side like United but they never did and they made United look like boys against men.

The only way i see to beat Milan is to have a top notch striker who could slot away a shot or two in the very few chances you get playing against them, Something liverpool don't possess as Kuyt is no Alan Shearer and Crouch will be bread and butter for Nesta and Maldini if they start playing the long ball.

Liverpool's only chance imo will come from set pieces like against Chelsea but it will take a huge effort to keep Milan at bay allthough to be fair Milan are lacking up front too but when you have a player like Kaka behind you it more than compensates for that.

Both these teams have European pedigree in abundance but on the semi performances I just cannot see Liverpool finding a way past Milan allthough i hope they do.

AC Milan for me by a couple of goals.

Forgot to add Gerrard and Guttoso will also be an intriguing battle with no love or inch lost after the comments in Gerrards book, it has the makings of a great battle of wills and if i were Gerrard i'd work on giving him a decent dig early doors in the hope he goes off as this time around he'll be a kingpin for Milan and won't let history repeat itself as last time out he really did think the game was over at half time no matter what he says.

Re: Champions League final AC Milan v Liverpool 23rd May

Milan for me as well... Just cannot see it any other way..Their whole season has evolved around this tournament, the motivation is as high as it can be and if there ever was a football match headlined 'Revenge', this would be it..

There must be a strong Liverpool influenece in Ireland as two Irish Bookies (Paddy and Boyle) appear to have the best price of 8/11 for Milan to lift the trophy....I think I'm gonna take that price now cos I'm sure it aint gonna stay as that..

Re: Champions League final AC Milan v Liverpool 23rd May

I would have laid Liverpool had they been playing United or Milan but then again, I backed United heavily to lift the FA cup yesterday so what do I know?

(No need for an answer there by the way )
