Will Holland Lie Down to Romania?

I don't think Romania will do it myself. I get worried when it all looks a bit obvious like this. Romania outdid the Dutch in the qualifiers, the Dutch will field a weakened team and they also have the incentive, as you all say, of getting two top rivals knocked out by losing.

To my mind there are two flys in this particular ointment.

1. The pressure on the Romanians is massive. Probably more that they have every had to bear as they are now expected to qualify.

2. If I was a second string Dutch player I'd be putting a couple of hundred percent into this game knowing that

a/ There's a chance I could impress the National Manager and end up playing in a European Championship final.

b/ I can put myself in the shop window for club managers to see and this might be the only chance I get of a game in the tournement.

I'm laying the Romanian win
