then why the tears about fairness?

if you feel so strongly about it, then why not relegate yourself in protest down to us newbies level where all the real action is

Re: Sign Up Now! Tipster Challenge

I guess I'm just one of those old fashioned guys who likes things to be fair.

Deep down I'm wondering if everyone would be so quick to back the idea if it wasn't one of Mickey's ex boyfriends but someone who Mickey hates such as Bluemal or Gett1nlotts who had put their name down first.

I somehow doubt it.

Anyway, as you say, it's all far far below me. As Mark Anthony's wife Marie Antionette once said "Let them eat snakes".

Re: Sign Up Now! Tipster Challenge

I didn't care who it was, ODM. Damn you. I had no control over who posted first. I was just trying to even the leagues up, man. I've all ready stated I'm not fussed how we set the leagues up - I just want it done quick as possible. I'll leave Division 2 as 13 players and reduce the prizes accordingly. THATS A JOKE!!!!

Re: Sign Up Now! Tipster Challenge

Cheers Mickey. Seems about 1973 since I got the first TC out the blocks. Thanks for the inferred complement Basher, though I don't know how a former perennial top flight player will cope with the kick and rush tactics of the Shires and Elgins of the TC

I was playing under a different name last season (to keep the pressure off) in the Gamblers Reunited forum buttmonkey comp which I stumbled across a while after the season started. That format suited the system I was tinkering with and I won one of the comps and landed a very nice cheque.

Might need to stick to singles again till I see how it goes. Getting on a bit now and lasting 90mins could be a problem.

Re: Sign Up Now! Tipster Challenge

All the English leagues start this weekend but for the Premier, winrew. Surely enough to choose from there? Or wait till next week and have a 'no bet' now. Or... you know.... try a 1/6 shot, 10pts. Get out of your Premier League comfort zone!!

Re: Sign Up Now! Tipster Challenge

Last season's tipster forum is redirecting to this one now. Had to as I've spotted Komp is advertising the competition and linking to the old forum but I can't see where to change it.

Re: Sign Up Now! Tipster Challenge

Now I know Keem is on a wind-up and is just sulking cos he's having to do make his way up from the 3rd division (just look on it as a Man City tribute act ), but I can't work out whether ODM is being serious or just being awkward for the sake of it.

The TC has always been run on a first come first served basis, and any free spaces in a higher division have always been taken by whoever gets their name in first, as far as I can remember. You need to have even numbers in all the divisions (with the exception of the bottom division where you can guarantee half a dozen new people plus Kiko will sign up, post for a week or 2 and then never be seen again, meaning you can afford to have a few extra in there).

Having said all that, ODM's play-off suggestion doesn't sound a bad idea either. Or even just stick all the new signups in division 3 and whoever's top after week 1 gets moved to division 2. Or is division 2 now known as the championship?

Well done Parahandy, on your success in the "buttmonkey comp" It is back on the betfair forum now for this season...
(also on their forum are comps I run) Milners still posts here too I think,
I remember he played the first couple of TC's here last season.

Good on you for starting the original TC many moons ago... I probably started from around the 4th one.

Re: Sign Up Now! Tipster Challenge

I was wondering what to call it myself, rc. Soon as I thought of making the top division the 'Premier League' (as it should be I think) I was imagining everyone suddenly becoming confused as I then changed the rest. I was going to go 'Premier' 'League 1' and 'League 2'. Pretty imaginative I thought. And pretty difficult for people to get confused you'd imagine... but... hmmm.

I'm not sure about the 'top after week 1' idea though. Seems to be placing a bit of pressure on Division 3 (I mean League 2) players for the first week. We're human beings too! And the play-off idea, although not bad, sounds like it could be as much of a lottery as who happened to put their name in first for new season? Surely it's easier to have ODM assassinated? I mean he's obviously never looked at the lower leagues before and the way folk can move up a division having finished 9th on 2pts etc. Why must he poke his fat, cheeky, whiskery, face into lower league affairs? He's like Sepp Blatter on speed!
