20/20 World Tournament

Anything relating to this in here then, if theres any interest at all.
Personally I find the idea of betting on a 20 over slog as very lottery-esque so I'll be keeping a watching brief certainly to start with, although no doubt I'll pick up interest as we go depending on if theres any interest from others

Re: 20/20 World Tournament

I agree at the lottery aspect of this due to there being little previous form to go on other than Jo'Burg historically having high scoring 50 over games.

There are plenty of novice captains like Vettori,Dhoni,Malik etc and those captains with experience have played little 20/20 like Ponting,Jayawardene and Collingwood.

For all Englands talk of picking specialists I can see the line up having Pieterson at 3 Flintoff at 4 and Collingwood at 5. Even if this isn't exactly right these three will be pivital to our sucess and they have not played much.

Also it will be interesting to see if the often mentioned idea about having "slow" bowlers who completely take the pace off the ball holds water after this tournament. It will be interesting to see the battle between Snape/Scholfield (if they play) against the Aussies on Friday. In the 20/20 final here between Kent and Gloucs there were only two overs of spin from Tredwell in the entire game and it was still low scoring.

So just some random thoughts which really go nowhere except to suggest there may be some high scores along the way especially with some early mismatches in the first 9 games. I have therefore bought the highest first 6 over score at 84 on spreadfair even though it will mean a team needing to score at over 14 an over.

Re: 20/20 World Tournament

I think both England and Aus are semi-final strong chances so I'll back them buy getting on their tournie sixes.

BUY Eng 6s @ 29 at 2pts
BUY Aus 6s @ 40 at 2pts

Today I'll have a small go at Windies over 6 overs, but it much depends on Smith (top knock in warm-up and good at this T20 stuff) going early, skittled by Fidel.

SELL SA runs first 6 overs @ 3 at 1.5pts

Had a small interest bet at Stan James:

Brad Hogg tourney wkts @ 20/1 1.5pnts E/W
Abe De Villiers tourney runs @ 28/1 1.5pnts E/W

+ 0.5pnts E/W double

Re: 20/20 World Tournament

Anyone watching West Indies v South Africa at the moment?

If not, turn it on.

WI are 109-0 off 10 overs. Chris Gayle's smashing it everywhere and is currently 69no. Just beat the record for highest number of sixes in a 20/20 innings. Amazing batting!

Fantastic viewing. As a non-cricket fan, I really, really enjoyed that.

Especially the bit when the commentator said "The captain is re-arranging his field.......he'd better put some of them in the crowd"

Re: 20/20 World Tournament

bloody heck; 4-4 after 3 overs. Bloody female commentator (Donna Symonds) put the hex on this. Struggled to 23 after 6.

Re: 20/20 World Tournament

Easy win for New Zealand, relatively easy win for Pakistan, and.....oh yeah, Zimbabwe mullered Australia

Hold on.......rewind

fcuk me

Erm.....right....morale of the story is, never back favourites
Only saw the Aussie innings but Zimbabwe bowled & fielded excellently today, & when I went out I thought 140 was enough......fair play

Zim play England tomorrow & its difficult to climb the mountain in successive days so I expect Australia to be playing England to avoid going home on friday.....tough one to call

They had it coming

Re: 20/20 World Tournament

Newlands stodgy pitch seems to be firming up a bit and now both played here they'll have a better idea of shot selection/ground areas to give it the maximum biff.

BUY multi-sixes @ 30 at 2pts

I can seriously see this as being something like 8 x 10.
