Eng v SL ODI series
First ODI:
Reluctant to have too large a bet as it sounds like rain is about so may either have very favourable swing bowling conditions or changes to the amount of overs. However, the two bets I have gone with: SL to win (now 10/11) - Dislike betting against England but even with Dilshan carrying an injury, SL are the better one day side. They smashed Eng in the world cup, will attack the opening overs better and in the two Ms they have wicket taking bowlers. As a get out, I will give Eng credit that they do have a good middle order should they turn up. SL to score most in first 15 overs (now 10/11) - Again, SL have batsman who get them off to a quick start, England have an untested partnership and in Cook someone who hasn't played many recent ODI due to a potential question on scoring rate. I also had SL to win the series at 6/5. Same reasoning as above. |

Re: Eng v SL ODI series
Hadnt noticed this thread & was about to start another one
![]() Didnt see that much of yesterdays game but this is my view: Whilst it was raining I was listening to TMS & Vaughan & Agnew proclaimed disbelief that England were favourites for this series. Have to agree tbh. My view hasnt changed with yesterdays result. Even at 1-0 up England are unbackable @ under 1/2. My reasoning is: Sri Lanka are the better side in ODI's England price is based on the fact that they are at home & nothing else In ODIs the home & away conditions are much less important than in tests. SL were fcuked as soon as it rained last night. Reduced to 32 overs per side, England were essentially handed a 20 over slog with 9 wickets in hand & could then bowl under lights with the ball jagging around. SL had no chance chasing that score down in those conditions. But does that influence the rest of the series? Well, obviously they are 1 nil down, but day night games can overly favour the side batting in daylight, therefore normal day games are more geared to the better side. 3 of the remaining 4 games are day games. SL's main problem is that the first one is at Headingley on friday, where it may seam around again. As far as I'm concerned, in an even contest England can only really win batting first as they cant chase well, whereas SL can do both. Massive price 3.5 on Betfair - 20pnts |
