Ashes 2009
Nearly there boys
![]() Can it be as good as last time ?? Yes I think it can, probably not as good skill wise but tension, yeah its big Those whove been around for a while will know that we made some pretty decent money last time & I think its their again. Difference is is that I havent been around for a while so its drifted, if the support is there I'll stick...if not then fair enough, my fault for not staying around. Ive had money on England on Betfair for ages, but nothing since KP was sacked. I could have termed that in Strauss being captain but I havent, no probs with him & hes one of those that captaincy brings out the best in batting, its happened to me. My view on KP is that after India & 2 WIs series he'd have been ready, yet the fuddy duddys at Lords decided not, as in spluttering "but hes not even English" type thing, Irony Ehh ? I think its a tight series, but our batting match winner is 5 years youinger than theirs. Brett Lee has probably forced his way in today with a 5-for @ Worcester but his record vs England isnt good. I never used to rate Johnson but have been turned so to see his 0-loads at Worcester is puzzling. Cardiff wont be a spin-fest & England will play Swann & Freddy plus Anderson, Sidebottom & Broad. Looking at Hauritz the Aussies will possibly play just seam. Wheres Krezjca ?? Disgrace !! Edge of the seat this one boys but Englands got to be the bet |

Re: Ashes 2009
Norths ton is good in a way, they'll be even more convinced that no Hauritz is the way to go, covering the spin with North, Clarke & possibly Katich. I say possibly Katich but they aint warming him up....could be a plan ??
North is poor, too full & can just be worked to leg, well thats my outlook. Bells duck aint good either

Re: Ashes 2009
Lees out of probably the first 2 tests which is very interesting as he bowled well at Worcester & was reversing the ball well, & lets be fair if you're swinging it at 90mph its pretty hard to play but if its going the other way at that speed then shiiiittttteeee !!
Might make them play Hauritz though I'm not sure of that tbh but I think the Aussies are making a mistake going in without a specialist change ofpaceThis is interesting: 'Australia's selection is ridiculous' | Comments | Cricinfo Talk | Cricinfo.com Chapelli knows his stuff & he reckons we should be favourites England 2/1 Bet365 for Cardiff but havent looked around yet |

Re: Ashes 2009
Hallo blokes. Just back (in Hong Kong) from 3 weeks in Blighty - top weather! Went to Lord's for the Twenty/20 Final. Fairly easy chase in both cases, women's/men's, so little cricket drama to complement the grand setting. Also went to Royal Ascot as the designated driver. Was in civvies so ended up in a 7 quid enclosure on the Heath. Backed a horse in the first that came in after the weighed-in signal was up, had one pint and then went back to the car and read a book and drank warm ginger beer.
Cardiff. Weather looks no better than alright, but 'alright' seems to take out the draw in this day and age. (A popular theme here in the past). So far I'm looking at England highest opening partnership first innings. Strauss seems to have taken to the batting/skipper combo with ease and Cook looks in touch. Denly and Moore chalked up 172 together against this attack at 4 an over (and now Lee out) for the 'B' brigade. Hughes failed 3 from 4 warm up knocks. Katich has stickability but also a very odd technique. I've found 1.95 available on this (Aus favoured at 1.80) and Pie's book would have it the other way. More in a bit.... |

Re: Ashes 2009
SM Katich 3 - 1 - 9 - 2
SM Katich 11.2 - 1 - 42 - 3 This perhaps is interesting. Katich only bowled in 2 innings of the 3 recent tests in SA. In the second innings of the last 2 tests. 5 wickets in 14 overs. So that's SA: and now England where there's likely to be some spin friendly stuff over 5 tests. Aus can't drop the blighter as there's sod all replacement for his (primary) opening batting slot. So will Punter bowl him? (On his recent memory, conditions and likely selection strategy, yes). What do you think Spin are offering for his spread on series wickets @ 10pts per wicket + 25pts for a 5-for? You'd probably think 61-66 for this part-time tweaker. And you might think it worth taking on OVER. The current quote is 28-33. This a definite series BUY in my book. But I've been wrong before on spreads ![]() Above are his figures. |

Bloody hell mate, backed a winner AND got some decent weather in the motherland. Your luck must be right in at the moment so you've got to be the one to follow
