Lets not beat around the bush... i am yet to be convinced that Twenty20 is much more than hit & giggle cricket... thus some ground rules to be taken in to consideration for anything i post on this thread.

1) It's about as random as any sport can be.
2) I'll likely not be watching most games.
3) There's a very good chance i don't know what i'm talking about.

Deccan were pre-tournament favourties last year, (followed by Chennai if memory serves) and ended up last. I think the bat vs ball matchup went the way of the ball which took the bookies by surprise.

I'll be running two banks through the tournament.

Bank 1 - Standard punts on whatever takes my fancy
Bank 2 - Blindly back the underdog.

Whilst there are obviously players that perform better in this form of the game than others Twenty20 has thrown up enough shocks in it's life to make backing the underdog profitable. We'll see if the bookies are more clued in this year (and it'll act as a nice tester ahead of the world cup in the summer).

I couldn't find a stat for this so i've just gone and added it up by hand... feel free to point and laugh.

Run outs.

I recall last year thinking the line on matches of o/u 1.5 run outs was curiously small for T20 games where people will run on anything at the end of an innings if they need the runs. Bet over it a number of times and it never worked as well as i thought it should at the time.

With a years worth of hindsight i look on it this way. The run out is the result of incompetence. If they need the runs desperately enough to run on anything at the end then they'll be having a big heave. If they connect they'll get caught, if they miss the bowler should be aiming at the stumps and they'll get bowled.

In the standard season IPL games last year (56 in total (2 were DL, 1 abandoned, maths tells me i've missed 1... fuck it i'm not doing that again).

So 52 games.

Unders - 35
Overs - 17

That makes it sound like anything over 1.5 for unders should be value.
