How to do........pics/video in presentation

Help!

A load of us are 40 next year & as a surprise I would like to be able to do 40th Birthday tributes in a DVD or like the ones below from youtube.

I have tons of pictures taken from the "sesh camera" from age 16 till its demise 12yrs later. Holidays, old romances, nights out all amnner of horror pictures are there!

I have also got video footage on old tapes.

How can I merge both these to make montages?

What hardware/software will I require??

Is there any tutorials anywhere?

Novice in these things!

Help appreciated!

hmm , I think movie maker lets you do stuff like that betfly , it comes free with xp/vista .
Lets you load up your vids then splits them into frams which you can then reorder/edit/insert etc..
not the best out there but a good start and free

Clearly I need to get a scanner & given number of pics involved any ideas as to which one to get?

Re: How to do........pics/video in presentation

Mate,

I can only advise from a Mac perspective as I did a DVD for the wife for her 30th. It was a doddle using all its 'i' software, iMovie, iDVD, iPhoto etc.

Whilst it was relatively easy to do - do not underestimate the amount of work/time/effort involved from scanning, importing, resizing, captioning(if you're gonna do it), editing, music, etc.

That said, it was well worth it and I'd recommend it if you've got the time. Loads of brownie points in it if you do one for the missus.

Good luck with it!
