system restore

the pc has been playin up , tried to do a restore but the thing wont let me , heeeeeeeelp

Are there any messages displayed when you try to do a restore?

Have you, or the system, actually created previous checkpoints which to restore from?

also try it from safemode just in case any loaded programs are causing problems.

it tells me its unable to restore any date i try

I presume this "cannot restore computer" message is shown after you've run the restore program and it's attempted to restore your system to an earlier date, rather than when you first try to open the program.

If so, do as Slick says and try to run the System Restore program from within safe mode.

If not, let us know. You may need to reinstall the System Restore program itself, or other things far more drastic....
