Streaming Videos getting slower.

A week ago I could watch any movie or TV Show streaming off the internet, from any site, without having to wait for the thing to buffer. As the topic title says its getting pish, for some reason very pish, I've no idea whats wrong as my broadband connection is steady and transferring files through utorrent at the same rate as always.

I've tried to watch a streamed episode of Married with Children 3 times in the past week, the first was fine, it paused for a few seconds at the start then played right through, the file was fully streamed with 5 minutes left. 2/3 days later it was only loading at HALF the bloody speed.

Now today, the exact same show form the exact same site is fucking crawling, ive worked it out that at the current rate itll take about an hour and a half to be ready to watch.


I use firefox, I'm assuming the latest version, Internet Explorer isnt any quicker, nor is Opera, if its a browser problem.

Is it only that particular site that's giving you problems, Spacecat? If it is, maybe the problem's at their end rather than yours?

its all of them rc. youtube was the last to go but yesterday it started inching along at about a 10th of the speed it was before, all streaming videos are pretty much unwatchable now. only southparkzone still flies in the way the rest used to.

i dont think its my hard drive, ive got about 60gig free there, like i said the net connection is the same speed as always judging by file transfer rates through utorrent. ive really no idea.

I've noticed stage6 goes through some bad periods during peak hours (sloooooooow), youtube too. Also Veoh has been a bit iffy lately as I think they were upgrading. Other than that, I'm not sure. Have you tried the streaming video at BBC? That one always seems well quick. I've been watching masterchef. BBC iPlayer - Home

cheers mickeypaul, bbc is ok actually, i dont mind having to wait a little bit for streaming media, just not hours! im really not sure what my problem is with the other websites
