Re: HELP PLEASE

In the "Processes" tab of Task Manager can you tell which process is causing the CPU to be used 100%

Also, which Windows are you running? XP, Vista?

Re: HELP PLEASE

There should be a "CPU" column in "Processes" window and the number there is a % of the CPU that it is using.

Re: HELP PLEASE

It could well be that Ori, i was wondering if it was explorer getting itself in a knot, i've known it to happen quite a lot with XP without much explanation.

Most of the time you will have "System Idle Process" at 99 in the CPU column, when your pc freezes you might find that a different process has a very high number. That would indicate the source of the problem.

Re: HELP PLEASE

If a full virus scan finds nothing then best i can suggest is that next time it freezes up to find the process that is causing it. What it is will define your next move i think

Re: HELP PLEASE

Your computer might have been hijacked . You can check this in McAfee in tools - trraffic monitor. This will show you what active processes are running. This happed me a lot a while ago until I switched from IE to Mozilla as a browser. If you have been hijacked you will need to find out what it is by running a program such as "hijack this" which will generally get rid of a lot of the crap.
