Excuse my ignorance but what does that involve exactly?

including reasons why/whynot?

I'm off to bed now but will get back to you tomorrow,
when I'm sober

Re: Mods For Forums

Thanks for the interest snodser. It dont involve nothing more than just wanting to make the rugby forum as good as you can make it. It's yours and your the boss. It lets you be able to dictate what happens in the forum and i mean that in a good way as it sounds bad. To me i have always just thought of TDP as a BIG place where people can find their own niche. I hang about the Scots 1-2-3 thread and due to commitments i have to do WW forum too (even though i dont know anthing about it ) I wont deny that i have fell out with mods in the past but that was never about the job in hand. always about something else like the 'Forum Help' thread i posted in here. Also i dont get involved in mods anymore as it ties me up. I just want every wee bit of TDP to run as well as it can and i want to help folks that know better than me to make their forums that bit better for them and anyone that frequents it. Phew im getting a bit pissed here myself snods. im playing 2 tables at poker now so i will go and concentrate but if you want your name in boldf and as much forum powers as a forum can as then i reckon the job is yours snodser

Re: Mods For Forums

Komp, shouldn't you open that thread in the mods forum also?

In fact there's a thread "to mod or not to mod", maybe there should be some kind of discussion.

Re: Mods For Forums

diomed's not interested. Didn't she recently say that she was involved in another forum (though not as a mod) but would carry on posting on here as and when (after a bit of an absence).

Her horsey knowledge is damned good too by the way.

I think she is a mod on the other forum and yes she has said before she's not interested in modding here.

Hmmm, did not come knocking and don't want to rock the boat. Quite happy as I am...... Asked for some Ts & Cs as I have no interest in getting involved in something I can't do(justice to) properly, that's all.........

Don't think he meant that's what you'd do snodser, it's just that's what we all do eventually.

I can't get in there Engineer. I must add i did just start this thread as a concerned TDP viewer and not as 'me'. I was drunk and sharing my thoughts. as you all know i want nothing to do with all this and maybe it should have been posted elsewhere. Im impulsive.

Again may i mention though that mods have ONLY left due to them or more commonely not them arguing with me over other things like the 'forum advice' thread. It's never to do with anything to do with the job in hand. Have a think about it folks as thats the way it's been.

As long as you dont start telling me when and where i should be working Snodser you'll be fine.

I have no reason to be advising anyone on the any of the above. This is a virtual world..
All I wanted to know was what the role of a "mod" requires.
If I feel I don't / can't get involved then I won't.
Picky maybe, but don't like doing things in an half arsed manner.
As the man said "shit, or get off the pot"

Back later........

Re: Mods For Forums

Good man Snodser and i'm the same. If a job is worth doing it's worth doing right imo. No pressures etc as i say i dont chose the mods etc on TDP i leave that up to the mods. I know this is hardly a good advertisement for getting folks in to mod forums but i have to mention that things have changed. the mods run the forums and i just sort things out like the 'big banner req' etc. Things have changed and as i say i dont even have access to the mods forum these days. I was just putting up my nominations on this thread thats all. In light of my previous threads on this subject maybe this thread wasnt the best of ideas

Anyhow if anyone is interested then we still have the 'I wanna be a mod' form
http://www.thedailypunt.com/forum/modapp.php

To me being a mod is just caring for the forum your modding in. If anyone wants to be a worldwide forum mod for instance i would say that unsticking the out of date fixed threads and welcoming new posters would be part of the 'duties' It's all just about every small part running as well as it can be and i appreciate all the help that folks can give. Fcuk i remember when 3 mods walked out because i had spent Mickeypaul's money one month. You all dont have to concern yourself with me spending Mickeypaul's money just the job in hand which is making the forums as good as we can.

Re: Mods For Forums

Nah , wasnt having a go at you Snods , or Komp.
We have lost loads of Mods over the last few years due to one reason or another.

Being a Mod.
Well , doing what you are doing at the moment.
Some great input from you in the various threads , just wish we had more folk helping you out , although things have picked up a lot to be fair.
Its a thankless task at times, but one that needs doing , cleaning up the spam and keeping things ticking along are the main tasks.
I would like to see Cinny and Parksy along with Spacecat involved as well.

Re: Mods For Forums

Fair enough Winrew.

At the mo' I'm pretty free, but that will change in the next few months. I only came in here to get tips etc and as the lady said "one thing led to another".

Been following the rugby for a long while now with an obvious French bias. When I can I have a look around the rest of the shop without ness. understanding everything.

Whatever you decide/happens you will no doubt see me in here with my oval balls on a regular basis..

Bets of luck to all .

Re: Mods For Forums

im sorry for laughing here chaps but Winrew really summed it up well to me. aye i have fell out with mods in times of past but winrew really has summed it up to me. It is almost thankless. Well it will feel like that at times. actually can i go?

May i add i have fell out with people yes. It's their decision to stay away though. I never and have never argued about the task at hand though bar with Kiko over STICKIES IN WW. Look at it now. I admitted Kiko was probably right now but not in the capacity he was meaning. We dont stick threads to make it easier for people. We stick threads to give people what THEY want, not what we want. Im off track here. anyhow anyone that has fell out with me in times of past have just reason from what they could comprehend. I never meant to fall out with them and they are always welcome. I know i can be a difficult bugger but honest chaps if i wasn't we would be sitting here with the same 20 faces wondering what we do next. no need for me to go on over old ground.

as i say snods i just thought that you would be an ideal man to take TDP Rugby betting forum to where you wanted it. Heh we all want the best on the net. Im the fcuker that falls out with mods and im sorry but im sure that every mod in TDP can say that i have never fallen out with a mod in a mod capacity. Aye i dont want to go on but i will say again the reason i posted this threa is that as a member of TDP forum i'd love to think that someone like snodser mods our rugby forum. One less thing for me as a man that wants the best for TDP to worry about.
