Finishing Things Up

As many of you will know ive been farting about trying ways to get this happening for many a year now and in this time of resolution i think ive sussed it out. We need it in the forum software not the frontend software as i was trying with tDPS although that would be good. Anyhow i forget why i was wanting this kind of system in play anymore as ive lost my way on it a bit. Do we want it?

Ive requested a person to come in and do a bit of custom forum work for us. Here's hoping its a small step in the right direction. Watch this space and if it all goes well then and we're up for it (remeber it will be very unobtrusive and it will all be hidden away in a persons profile whch can be viewed via their avatar picture) I just added the 'add to thread' bit there as i was typing it. It might not be the best way or maybe it would be. Anyhow we'll see how it goes and i'll go crack on with the other 2 things im trying to get in. One is a proper link directory. A smart one. One that does the job without me having to go looking for folks links to us etc etc. It will just sit there doing its job and thats that.

It works with vbulletin. Again we can use the less ghastly bits of it and it will be a welcome extention about the forum. Why do we want it? I dunno we've always been wanting a bookmaker review thingy for TDP Not only is it good for us on google (i believe) and possibly good for TDP at getting more bookie sign-ups. Its also gonna be informative and have user input and alwys worth a look over for anyone with an interest. Find out about new bookies etc etc

aye so if we get them 2 installed and working neat and i win you all over with this betting record thingy i reckon as a forum we'll be nearly there.

Hello. I am looking for someone that could make this happen for me. I was to add a betting record system to my forum. It would need to be displayed in detail in their profile page and also have their total profit/loss showing in the postbit

People will input the data via options below a thread in Full Reply mode and their picks will appear on the thread and also in their 'record'. The custom fields would be a mixture of pull down menus and text input boxes. The 'Sport' will be automatically set depending on what forum a person is in. They will chose a field from a pulldown menu (Italian Football, Scottish Football etc) and then a text field for them to input their 'selection'. This would be followed by a text field for the 'odds' and then another text field for the 'stake'.

Even better if it was all in a nice ajax drop down below the quick reply box.

Admin side of things? Well i would prefer it if my members could 'settle' the bets themselves. This would involve them viewing a list of their UNSETTLED 'selections' and then clicking either WIN or LOSE. If they click win their selection's 'stake' will be multiplied by the inputted 'odds' for the selection. I suppose this would be easier for you guys in Decimal but if i could add fractions to the equation then all the better.

Nows the bit i havent thought of too hard about as it seems a long way off and thats where i want you to impress me. What great statistical graphs could you put on this betting record section of a user's profile? What i do want is all the graphs to be searchable in some way (if thats the word) I want to click 'Italian Football' and see a profit and loss chart for that members Italian Football picks. I would also need to see yield and other stats but i will get them to you and you can work out the maths.

Admin would have to be able to change any inputted result before or after settling and the tables and records would have to be recalculated.

my links directory efforts have failed again. Thats about 10 bits of kit ive tried and still cant get things working. I'll leave it to slick i think.


I aint even gonna bother installing the reviews thing but as this example shows it should be ideal for us

ill look for some linbks for bookmaker info that could be helpfull. I was thinking of possibly classifying them all by country. Obviously i will add all the wee shitty crooked ones too as they need to be reviewed.

Right your gonna hate but here we go here's the last round of sorting the forum. My stats idea seemed to go down pretty well so let me run the last things by you and we'll take we can and then that will near enough be that. Firstly may i say we are short of an easy image uploader. Not important to some but handy for screenshots and just for general things about the forum. ~Ill get one of them. Here's the list. I'll go make my selections (like christmas) feel free to discuss and if i forget that i aint doing a site called ratemygoolies.co.uk then remind me.

Commbull Community Bulletin 3.5
This hack is considered a "weekly newsletter" by the fact that it will email members (only sent by an admin), who have opted to receive it, new posts, hot threads, etc ... Basically a summary of what has been going on since the last time the newsletter was sent out.

might be good to get that on the go. Rememebr last time we did it and everyone got really pissed of with me sending them? Aye my 'fcuk em' attude let me down there i must admit.

This Advanced Link Directory could solve the 'link directory' prob. Just a shame it looks so shite. Maybe look ok with our skin

WQe could type 'Seen Smells' and amuse ourselves. Maybe we could make it only accesible by a certain usergroup and we could sell advertising space. Ok i'll forget about having a graphitti wall. I'll just keep my graphitti to the forums.

shit i know what i have been after for all this time an never got and thats a wee notepad. You click a button and out pops a nice we light notepad. you click off it and it goes. when you click it again it reappears and your text is still there. I saw it working on another 'system' and im sure it might be easy enough to make ourselves. some light dhtml or something like that. I dunno but it would be neat. Im only on N of that list so far....

The language thing im quite into. Maybe its just me but i think if the forum was in 7 or 8 languages and all the people are seeing it in their spoken language it could work well for us. That hack to show the language by ip would work well too. Folks would be reminded it is an english speaking forum and they could click the wee union jack flag to see it in its original language. I suppose any posts written in german would show as ...nah surely not. anyhow you all for minding your language? Sometimes it seems like i am posting in greek. Anyhow...

ah here's that rss news thingy i had up and running before we changed servers. Maybe worth considering again especially if it was done nice and simple.

Cheers Gaza. Its only about 60% finished truth be told. I wil start on it again from sunday and hopefully get it done next week. Its hard to sell something to potential partners or sponsors when you look like shit and thats why we need to try and look the part. Walk the walk before we talk the talk etc. Ive stil so much to do its disheartening and slicks got probs in the house and is finding it hard to get online and mick's gave up. I just want to finally get it finished and then i can maybe go get a life myself. Anyhow enough of my usual self indulgence. and here's me keeping on top of TDP admin as ever-

Need to get it sorted chaps as i cant do anything and boy do we have a lot to do-

1. navbar. we need to sort that for good and final. we need to add a special offers button in there like the sign in and we need to put bookies offers in it. We also need to take the pm's from the sidebar and put it in with the sign in. also Slick that would mean we can get rid of your log in top left. I remember you mentioning why it was there so forgive me but surely having t with the sign in would be better? Oh and ive posted a couple of PM hackins in the betting record thread in com and sug. Maybe that would help.

2. Forum. Need to sort the footer out. also we need to add any hacks that we need from the thread mentioned above. Sidebar needs looking at and adding too and tidied up and some thought put into it. Sigs need to be implemented too.

3. Frontpage needs filled up a bit with things Anything. i will have a think too

4. Reviews. The reviewpost i have placed in /xxxxxx/ is ideal and more info can be found on this thread

5. Link exchange index. If we can get the joomla running proper i dont have a prob with using it. I dont want to just hjave joomla installed for its link exchange though a thats what it effectively is at the moment. If we could have a stand alone web link reprical thingy in then that would do.

6. affilates - ive opened a few new ones or have applied (with slicks detils) emails should be in affiliates I will chase them up. Mainly poker

If we could clear this chaps then it would make my life easier as honest sitting here is killing me. I am numb in my hands and feet and i have severe chest pains. I have to get it all done in the next few weeks or else im gonna go right off my head or failing that just plain dead. Come on lets work together here and really put a final push in. why do all this for years only to give up in the last 5%?

and the icons in forums (the flags) need to only relate to the forum that a person is in. No need for Scottish flag in ww forum etc.
