Re: Cash Players
Hi Kiko,
I am most definately a cash game player as opposed to a tournament player. Yes you can win a lot more with the 1st prize in a tourney than in a similar stakes cash game - but I believe there is more luck involved in tourneys, and in the longer run bigger wins to be had by the good cash game players than the decent tourney players. I generally either play full ring (10 man) games or extremely short (HU or 3 handed) cash games. Playing tight is not a bad thing at all with cash games so dont worry kiko, it wont win at the highest stakes, nor does it translate very well to the 6 handed tables, but if you can get down a good tight aggressive game you will definately show a good profit in the long run at the 10 man cash tables (and indeed slaughter the 2/4 and below NL on the net). Indeed when I play full ring I generally play TAG and HU or SH I play very LAG. You have to be more adept at playing with deeper stacks in relation to the blinds than tournaments. This means you just have get better at reading what your opponent is giving you action with and when your hand is good or not. In the late stages of a tourney a raise preflop can commit a good % of your stack and make TPTK a monster - however in cash games you will have only commited a tiny % of your stack preflop usually, and must learn to play the following streets of poker well. Dont worry about having to loosen up, just make sure you stick to being very aggressive with your good hands and try not to give too much action to other players (or stay "married" to hands") when you are obviously beaten. Stick to the 10 man tables and learn a tight game - you will start to win money and the rest can come later. Jez |

Re: Cash Players
No exact opposite Kiko, tight play is rewarded more at cash games than tournaments for sure. As long as youre talking 10 seaters that is. Looser play in tournies will see you doing better than playing really tight imo overall.
Dont worry about that K4 bollocks players playing those sorts of hands may experience short term luck but will lose all there money in the long run. Playing tight in a full ring cash game is the way to go for sure, Id strongly discourage doing anything else. |

Re: Cash Players
Agree with everything said here.. TAG play is the way to go in cash games..
Jezza told me to play cash games instead of tournaments. And so i have since august.. (do play tourney now and then, but only for fun). Since then i have played 95 Real hours of play. (2 tables for 1hour, counts for 1hour. 3tables for 1hour counts for 1hour.) In that time ive made 11,5 BigBlind profit each hour on avr. I started out playing 0,12/0,25$ tables.. Now up to 0,25/0,50$ play. And its still the same.. TAG play, only play your good cards, and then hit it hard... Also my play has been WAY BETTER last month or so, after reading jezza post with limping in with AK, and AQ.. Boy have i lost a lot of money in the past with those hands.. Betted 2$ missed flop, and then has to fold couse someone raised it big.. Now i only loose 0,50 or max 1$ if calling a raise.. But when i win, i still win 3-4$ and up... |

Re: Cash Players
Id like to stress that although I do think Cash games are 'where its at' so to speak. I only play those cos I want to make money from poker. I do think tournaments are more fun for the casual player or an STT. If I wasnt taking poker seriosously or just wanted to play for fun I wouldnt play cash games.

Quote:
I play some MTT from 3$ up to 10$ just for fun now and then... Gaming club has a good one with 4K$ guaranteed.. But its with rebuy and Add on.. There is no value.. Couse people rebuy a lot... But TAG game there, and you are well within.. Above 500 players each time.. Worst place for me is 90 out of 7 tourneys.. Best is 4th (382$) |
