$2/$4 10 handed

Right, was watching Jez earlier and fancied a shot. Thought I would just go in and see what came, be very patient and hopefully get a wee shot at some pots, after 10 minutes this hand came along. I had bought in for $200 and was very aware that I could lose the lot this hand, my thinking was that he called my initial raise because he thought I was just blind stealing, when he re-raised my pot sized bet post flop I was still convinced he never had an Ace, hence my big move. Obviously I never got to see his cards but what did he have? Could he have been on an ace but I pushed him off it? Personally I doubt that.

So what happened to you inbetween this thought and this hand then Ed?

To be fair looks like your reads were correct in this hand (not necessarily so preflop though). On the flop hes either just fcuking with you or he might have a pocket pair. I doubt he has the A but you never know, could have had a heart draw though

Well MrM to be honest I got a few hands before that, first hand I had 67 and got a free check to see the flop of 67K, so off and running.

Hi Ed

Your reads seem sound on the flop and turn. The fact its blind-on-blind makes it likely that your A is good here. I like the open shove on the turn, strong move that

Was screaming FOLD FOLD FOLD FOLD at that point Scottie, if he calls then I'm beat basically, unless he's a tube which I'm sure he aint.

Re: $2/$4 10 handed

Hi Yen

Lol yen I never even noticed you there tonight! Did you take any pots off me you bam . I was on a couple of tables and played a few sessions. I did well actually won about 2k but I seriously never noticed you (nor did I get your messages till I came back through here, I was playing in the TV room). Which table were you on? The one I won a 1200 dollar pot w 99 full or the one that I was just kind of hovering around 450 on for the whole night?

As for the hand in question. When he minraises the flop you have to wonder what he has. I dont think he raises the flop with any A apart from AK (and then if he has AK he doesnt minraise, he raises bigger probably). He just calls with AT AJ and the like. He MIGHT have A6 or A2 for two pair but I think its most likely either a flush draw, a set or a bluff. With the former he could use the minraise to build the pot incase he hits/get you to fold if you dont have the A and/get the cheapest possible rivercard if you do have it and call him. A set is possible as a PP is definately in his preflop range and the minraise is a little bit disconcerting as it can be a strong hand pretty often. An outright bluff is also not out of the question. Basically here if you have raised with any hand bar an A (yes an A is a big part of your HU raising range but then again so are a lot of other things that are now scared by the A on the flop) then you are going to hate his minraise and quite probably fold to it. From what I remember of this guy he is a regular and not a bad player so I wouldnt put it past him to try this. This would lead me to think like I said before that I would think he didnt have the A as well but I would be a little unsure what he had. I would have called like you did and taken a turn. I would have check/folded a heart turn. The turn you got I would have check/folded to a large bet (He knows you have the A when you call the flop so I doubt he is going to continue a bluff but he would obv try and bet his good hands again) but if I checked and he checked behind I would have check/called on a non heart river putting him on the flush draw/bluff from the flop and not the made hand. As it is you chose just to go through with your hand on what is a pretty safe turn for you. This isnt bad as it stops any free cards from coming off if he does have a heart draw which is a definate possibility. However you do hang yourself here if he has what is now probably a FH. By checking this turn I do give a free card to the flush draw but I also avoid being stacked by a set and earn extra money when I encourage him to bet on the river as a bluff. I think checking the turn is probably the better play but betting like you did isnt bad either yen.

Jez

Re: $2/$4 10 handed

How many screen names you got jez?

You suitedpowe too?

Good play there yen. Coulda gone tits up but yyou have to take the lead if you want to win that pot, cause you know he would probably have pushed if you checked to him.

Love the 2/4 tables. Also find 200 is a good starting stack. Low enough to keep the variance low (important to me) and its small enough to get paid off a lot with hands like top pair top kicker, or trips, cause people with big stacks play loose as fcuk a lot of the time against the shortr stack.

Re: $2/$4 10 handed

Not sure what one of your tables it was Jez, obviously you were in seat 3. You weren't really doing much at all the time I was in the table and no I never took any pots from you.

To be honest Jez I was pretty sure he never had an ace, when the board had paired the alarm bells were ringing, basically i wanted to take it there and then hence the all in, was just gambling a bit that never had a 6 in his hand.

Cheers for the comments.
