Hmmmmmmmm...
Back to reality for Arbroath after missing the chance to win the league two Saturdays ago, and playing with a team full of reserves yesterday. I'm dismissing yesterday as a meaningless game as the manager was playing some fringe players who have just played their last games for the club.
Our record has been pretty damn good this season away from home, we have one of the best away records in Scotland (THE best before the Dumbarton game). Unfortunately for us, Queens Park have been on a similar great run lately.
Our players and fans were on a real high over the past few months when we were sneaking up the league, but a bit deflated now after the defeat at Berwick. A good performance is required on Tuesday night, and i'm sure the manager will have us well fired up for the game, as we came so close last season in the playoffs, and this season for top spot.
We've shared the points with QP this season, 2 wins each, with the last 3 being quite close affairs. We dominated the last game a few weeks ago though, and came away with a deserved 1-0 win.
We didn't play very well against Berwick to be honest, a lack of creativity and attacking opportunities, but a quick check of our results before then will show what a great run we've been on. I'm sure the manager can't afford to go out defensive like he has a couple of times recently, especially against such a good passing side as QP. We have to go there and try and get a result.
Team news - our player of the year Jamie Bishop will be missing on Tuesday annoyingly. He's a rock in the centre of defence, but misses out due to uni exams. Ian Dobbins should be able to step up though, slightly less physical, but a bit more skillful with the ball at feet. On a brighter note, midfielder Sellars is nearing full fitness, and should appear at some point during the playoffs. No other major injury worries, full strength team.
All in all, we shall be going to Hampden with a strong team, and looking for a good result after our amazing away form this season. i think the 7/4 available at
ladbrokes looks quite tasty if anyone was interested (not looked anywhere else really, as oddschecker doesn't have playoff odds up). With so much at stake, i agree with komp that the odds should have been more evenly matched.
Arbroath @ 7/4+ at low stakes (but no-bet for me)
